i've never seen an organization that looks less intimidating. I think in the cap era the sharks are the most doomed franchise we've seen. scary? They look like they'll be a bottom dweller for another five seasons.

NHL reality is if you’re terrible for an extended period - you should have opportunity via draft to improve but it will take more than a few years yet, bud

Yes this team looks like it can compete soon due to the fact that they have been higher in the draft for the past two seasons and have a good prospect pool coming up. If you know anything about the young guys there, in 2025 this team should be pretty loaded with talent.

Loaded with unproven, inexperienced talent at the nhl level. I’m not denying they’ll have talent (being that bad for an extended period - of course they’ll have talent), but this team won’t even sniff the playoffs for 3-5 years minimum

There’s definitely a light at the end of the tunnel, but that defense is still brutal.

and if you know anything about the NHL, it's that prospects don't always pan out. the organization looks horrible. There's nothing on the blueline, and a whole bunch of question marks up front. just horrible front to back. i think they'll be selling off eklund before they're competitive again.

Correct prospects don't always work. But when you have 8-9 highly regarded prospects the chances are is that at least 3 will be good/great nhlers, sure none are bedard, mcdavid, ovi, sid, blah blah blah, but Smith could be the next McKinnon if he develops correctly

Okay go back 10 years and you have the Crosby, Malkin, Letang Pens as well as the Ovi, Backstrom, Carlson Caps additionally the Kane, Toews, Keith Hawks and the Bergeron, Marchand, Kreici Bruins (All Elite of Elite for their primes). Now you have the McKinnon, Rantanen, Makar Avs, The Chucky, Barkov, Reinhart Panthers, The Petersson, Miller, Hughes 'Nucks. Shall I keep naming franchises built around 3-5 elite guys

well, you can if you would like to. but you're kind of shifting the goal posts. first it was good NHLers and now its elite?

I'm sorry, no one in that prospect pool looks like a crosby or an ovechkin. if they did, guess what they would be doing right now? that's right, tearing up the NHL.

but, let's look at the penguins. the first year they could have been deemed as, "scary," was 07-08. Prior to that, they drafted 20th, 2nd, 1st, 2nd, 1st, 5th. compare that to the sharks. 4th, 7th, and whatever they get this year. does anyone in that prospect group look like a crosby, or a malkin, or even a staal? How about the Fleury? Then factor in that the penguins already had some solid pieces on the roster, and comparing the two is a bit ridiculous.

Look above in my post saying that Smith is their best Prospect and isn't Sid or Ovi (Where you acknowledged it) and now you are saying that I am equaling their current prospects to Sid or Ovi. If Smith becomes like McKinnon, Musty becomes someone like Boeser, Mukhamadullin becomes a Peterangelo, Graf becomes a Killorn type guy, and they land someone like Demidov or Celebrini, they start to make it into that conversation of a scary team

you were the one that brought up pittsburgh, not me.

If absolutely everything goes right, the team looks mediocre. There's just nothing to get excited about here. I don't think it's a stretch to say it's the saddest looking franchise in the cap era.

I think you are way off but everyone has the right to their own opinion.

We will see what the Sharks look like in 5 years. I bet they are going to be starting to shape up well.

shifting the goal posts again.
we've gone from "a few," to five, and from "scary," to, "shaping up well."
