Because we have Dach's brother. So that means we should be able to get him for basically nothing

Yeah you are not close when it comes to your trade values of players, all the Flames you said were worth a 1st rounder went for less so when you talk about Dvorak being negative value asset then I have to laugh as the biggest slight against him is his health and missing games and someone like San Jose will take him off the Habs hands

That's simply not true. Most of those trade didn't include a 1st rounder but they got players, picks and prospects they valued more than a late 1st. Tanev for example, they could have gotten a 1st for him from Colorado or edmonton but they didn't want the players being packaged with the picks. Even though both of the players (Johansen and Ceci) would have been useful for next year Conroy took deals to gain cap space instead of fill in players for a year.

Also a few players I said would or could fetch a 1st ** WITH RETENTION OR TAKING A CAP DUMP BACK ** were traded without retention or a cap dump return. No doubt just like with Tanev they could have gotten a 1st if they'd taken back a player they didn't want.

It's funny how all the trolls around here say things like "you said this guy would fetch a 1st and he didn't therefore you're wrong about everything" but forget to mention important contextual details like other assets included retention or no retention and cap dump or no cap dump.

I'm surprised to see you making statements like that. Maybe you've been listening to the trolls too much.

You just highlighted the challenge Montreal faces with trying to trade Dvorak, he is frequently injured and not available to play. Teams will not want absorb a $4.5m cap hit and pay out $5.75m in actual $$$ for a guy that can’t stay in the ice. They will need to staple a 2nd round pick to his ass to get another to take him otherwise he is staying Montreal.
