There's no incentive for Winnipeg to do that.

Ok from an outside perspective. What’s the get for him? His numbers are good. But he’s been healthy scratched when the Jets need wins. Almost the same draft spot as Zegras, one year younger but nowhere the same numbers. Honest question. But don’t for a lottery pick.

Matheson 1 for 1?

No incentive for MTL to do that
Even if he was a PPG player i dont think i'd do it.
We just got so much coming up that i'd just rather wait and see
Besides a lot of teams lately have been choosing not to sign RFA's for different reasons
We could always end up getting a shot at a good player as long as we have the Cap to play with

Kapanen hot in Liiga
Beck's hot in the OHL
Mesar's playing solid hockey and will need a AHL stint but his chemistry with Slafkovsky might by him a pass next TDL after we move our pending UFA's
Florian Xhekaj is a dominant Power Center with Size who's probably our best Defensive Center in our whole system while being a 30 goal scoring point per game 1st time Center.

Davidsons been stepping up and he's basically a bigger Gallagher at Center and he's good at it.
No top 6 guy but a solid Bottom 6 who wont give and inch so he'll likely get a shot next year if he has a good camp as he's a solid Faceoff guy with Grit.

We got options coming out the Wazoo in the next 2 years
If we get Lindstrom there's a lot of people saying he's NHL ready now which is why he's likely a lock for top 3 if we're going Best Available Player.
IF MTL ends up with a top 3 pick some how adding Lindstrom if he has a good Camp could fill in a lot of holes for MTL putting us in the Market more for a Monahan to mentor them.

Sell off Pending UFA's including Savard and Kovacevic then let RD like Barron play a while
He'll likely find consistency with minutes as he played better when everyone was on LTIR or IR so there was minutes for the taking.
Fighting for 15-17 minutes if you're lucky and still having to rotate games you sit out takes its toll after a while .
We dont want to give away a Matheson for peanuts like PIT did

I'd probably make that trade even though i dont want Perfetti lol
Clear indicator WPG fans likely wont agree but i like the idea

Matheson isn't worth that much and serves no need for the Jets.

A couple games of being scratched to watch and learn does nothing to lower Perfetti's value to the Jets. Especially after coming back with a 2 goal game after being scratched.

It is unlikely he's available, but if he is it would require a young, equally talented player that filled a position of need for the Jets.

Last thing WPG needs is a 30 YO LHD…. They’re already paying Schmidt 6 mil.

Yup top do less then Matheson does at less then 5m
But like i said i dont even want Perfetti
I would only do the deal as a Mathesons top 5 minutes guy in the NHL is an issue.
Struble's got 20 games left of Waiver Exempt days with the rest of our 5 rookies from last year in their final season of Waiver Exempt days
That's before factoring in Hutson,Reinbacher and Engstrom all turning Pro

Im just more open to moving Matheson then most habs fans even if its for a player i dont want and i dont think fits in with our needs on our timeline.
I think Perfetti fits more where WPG is and it would make more sense for them to dangle Morgan Barron who actually fits MTL's needs and they could leverage his value a bit more with MTL
