Another team would easily beat that offer. Look at what Matthew got, and Matthew could choose his destination by refusing to sign long term with certain teams. Brady does not have any trade protection for another year and has 4 more years of term. A power forward in his prime with captain level intangibles would have teams lining up to acquire him.

Robert Thomas would be the player Ottawa would ask for. Staios is familiar with him from his stint in the OHL. It's closer to a lateral move than Kyrou. Ironically, Thomas and Tkachuk are good friends.

Most people from this area do that once they get to retirement age. That being said, Big Walt is still heavily involved with the Blues. Also, this is where he grew up. Definitely a fair point though
