My thought was they are desperate for cap space to resign guys like necas, jarvis, guenztel, slavin and pesce. Berggren can replace JK production at a fraction of the cost.

Raymond is significantly better then Debrincat. And yzerman would be paying more in the short term for Raymond with the hope he turns into a 80-90 point guy down the road.

Slavin doesn't expire this year, don't need to re-sign Pesce, can replace him elsewhere. If they were that desperate to move cap, the logical players to go are Fast and Staal. Staal is just inferior to KK right now in every facet. Could also opt to bridge Jarvis instead of signing him long term. They can keep everyone while retaining Kotkaniemi, and it's why no Canes fan wants to see him go.
