Since Pettersson is re-signed Matheson to Van is never gonna happen. Return for Hronek would be a young prospect RHD or top six forward with size and a pick.

Not really Hronek for Matheson isn't far off and was even proposed earlier today or yesterday by someone and Canucks fans didn't mind it too much (I just couldn't remember the details lol) and no one (especially me) cares what Bruins fans think about anything lol

There's no grounds to the Canuck deal. Getting older for a slight cap decrease for a LHD when our right side is weak would be an awful move. Matheson may have had a decent year, but its more than likely a one off, and certainly not worth getting older for. I dont think the difference in value is only a 2nd either, but its the fit that doesnt make sense more than the value.

I get the fit isn't right but the value is similar. Both players are having career years in terms of points. Both player previously have set their previous career highs in each of the last 3 seasons. They are only 4 years apart in age, have similar cap hits but Matheson has an additional 2 years on his team friendly deal. I do agree that Hronek has slightly more value being a RHD and slightly younger but I don't think it's more than a 2nd. This all seems like the Reilly vs Hronek argument from earlier today

Even if the value is fair on the Matheson-Hronek swap (personally I’d want more but that’s a different discussion), Matheson won’t ever be a Canucks because of his history with Pettersson

I mean he would still be in our top 6 and the Ducks are doing worse this season so is it really that far fetched that he is their "best forward"?

I didn't know they had history lol

Edit** is the link below all you are talking about?! It's a clean hit and Petterson landed awkwardly. If Petterson holds a grudge over that type of thing then he is playing in the wrong league

The original hit is fine, but after the puck is gone he picks him up and body slams him to the ice. That’s dirty

It was all the same play, it literally happened to Guhle last night by Konecny. Players know hitting is part of the game and sometimes the get hurt as a result if he holds a grudge over that then he should hold back to Europe cause he is gonna get a lot more hits like that if he stays

Konecny didn’t forcefully slam Guhle down after the hit like Matheson did to Pettersson though. Guhle fell to the ice as a result of the hit, Pettersson fell to the ice as a result of a body slam

The Habs are much better off rolling the dice on guys like Demidov, Iginla, Eiserman than another reclamation project like Zegras.

Keep both 1sts while drafting Iginla and Sennecke is my hope. The Jets pick will be around 22-25 unless they go to the conference finals. Both guys look like legit top 6 pieces and will be available around picks 10-25

I agree, I was just saying that Zegras gets a ton of flack on here and that but he is still a legit top 6 forward on almost any team.

Square peg in a round hole. Zegras isn’t what this club should be targeting IMO. They need more size and scoring

Not disagreeing, just pointing out he is still a highly talented player
