LOL, that is brutal for Chicago.
How exactly does the money work out in favour of Chicago? Rackell is owed $18m over the next four seasons whereas Hall is owed $5.25m for one season of which you want the Hawks to retain 50%. I know math is hard but holy crap man.
Additionally, the Hawks will end up with cap hits of $8m, $5m, $5m and $5m over the next four seasons and the Penguins $3m for one year. Now if Rackell was playing well you could argue it is worth the investment for Chicago but he’s not, he has been an overpaid, underperforming bust in Pittsburgh.
It would take more then a 1st round pick to move Rackell’s contract on it’s own. Then another 1st round pick to get Hall with 50% retention.
I would counter with:
To Pittsburgh: Hall 50% retained
To Chicago: Rackell, Yager, Pittsburgh’s 2024 2nd round pick, Pittsburgh’s 2026 1st round pick.
