As a Pens fan I would definitely accept that trade. But I think you overpaid for just a 1st even if it is 9th overall.

Why on earth would MTL give Price's insured contract away?

While all the genious GM's are using LTIR money to make their team contenders on $100M payrolls, you would just get rid of 2x$10.5M for free?

Not only could MTL use it by 2025-2026, but even if they would want to tade it they would get value for it.

Teams dont magically gain 10.5m in cap space with his contract. Thats not how LTIR works. Its a negative asset for most teams. Arizona will need to be over the cap floor with the Keller trade and other offseason losses. This gives them a higher cap hit than salary owed. Weber only got Dadonov back (who was being paid like 4m and was bad)

By putting price on LTIR after the season's start, MTL increased their cap ceiling to around $93M. It's not magic, it's in the rules. Learn them.

You came so close to recognizing the positive value of Weber's contract, but then prefered to talk down on Dadonov, a 0.5 ppg player ...

Would be more fun arguing with you if you got your basic facts right to start with...

LTIR is a relief pool. Not a charity pool. The 20 rostered players can only cost 83.5m in cap, not the 93m you think it is. Its common sense. But i see you a lot around here, and you are never right so im not surprised

LTIR contracts are only worth it for teams who want guys with a higher cap hit then actual salaried owed. Thats why they are usually dealt with 1-2 years left as their contracts were front loaded

I dare you to find a source for that.

You are making stuff up out of thin air as usual.

the 2 AZ are easy beyond easy passes, AZ is trading keller for meh prospects and couple 1st in 2 years. and price = 2years for 2x 7th not worth it.

If you think a player is worth more than 2 1sts, a top 4 d and 2 bottom 6 prospect then its hopeless for you

yeah easily, one 1st is top 10 protected (so likely not till 2026) the 'top 4 D' plays 15min/g lowest on a bad team, the 2 prospects arent even in MTL top 15 prospects. yeah even if AZ wanted to move keller they would get better packages from most every other team. and lastly AZ has zero reason to trade keller
