Détails additionnels:
Most valuable year is now gone and wasted. Unlikely to live up to his contract in 2025-26. Closer to the Fleury from VGK to Chi deal than the Schneider price

This is the offer.
If Calgary fans don’t like it, then we move on from Markstrom trades 😇🙂

I'd much rather go after someone younger this offseason. Give the moon for Swayman if he comes available in any way, Ullmark also a good target, Jarry, etc.

Heck let's go bring Stolarz home. He just dominated Markstrom last night

After the year he's having he's still worth a 1st round pick. No more no less, most goalies age well acting like this will be his last good year is a little ridiculous.
Even Fleury's fall off in Chicago wasn't that bad and when he went to Minny he still got them to the playoffs last year playing the majority of games (more than 50%)

Most goalies don’t age well. Fleury did play decently in Chi.

I don’t think Markstrom will be a top 10 goalie over the next 2 years. He’s paid like a top 10 goalie. Which of these goalies would you take 35 and 36 year old Markstrom over?

Saros, Ullmark, Swayman, Askarov, Shesty, Vasy, Sorokin, Adin Hill, Logan Thompson, Hellebuyuck, Demko, Binner, Ingram, 6K, Jarry, Georgiev, Montembault, Pyotr.

Goalie risk premium, age risk premium, and cap space risk premium all do not help his value. Especially in the offseason.

Agreed on Swayman - even if the door is open just a crack. There are some similar comps between him and the Schneider trade from years ago; however, I doubt Boston is listening as early as the draft. Maybe I’m wrong.

If they don't have a contract worked out by then I'd come in there with our 24 1st (top 10)+Holtz+Daws.

I wouldn’t bother…Conroy has nuked his reputation in last few weeks, they have sold off their defense for peanuts, Markstrom wants out…price is only going down.

At this point they're probably gonna keep Markstrom. Trying to sell him in the offseason is going to get a price that has Calgary fans heads exploding. They'll play it out, he'll regress, and then the fanbase will turn on markstrom.

Give me Markstrom easily over, Binner, Thompson, Jarry, Hill, whoever 6K is. Argument could be made for Askarov (he's yound and would most likely not be great the next 2yrs), Monty, Georgiev, Ullmark and Kochetkov
The others are better 100%
Luongo, Brodeur, Rinne, Hasek, Lundqvist, Kiprusoff, etc all played well into age 36 it's not old for goalies especially ones that have won Vezinas Bobrovsky is 36 right now and playing better than his last 2 yrs

6k is Ukko Pekka.

Hasek, Broduer, are from a bygone era. Goalies are getting younger and younger

Kiprusoff was garbage after age 33. In GSAx, overall in kipper's last 3 seasons (age 34, 35, 36, so same as markstrom), 68 goalies faced 1000 or more shot attempts. Kiprusoff ranked 66th in GSAx over that time
Rinne was great.
Luongo was a mediocre starter
Lundqvist fell off after age 33 from generational carry job to mediocre starter.

Also Hasek, Brodeur, Lundqvist are levels above a Markstrom.

People get extremely shortsighted about goaltenders.

You’re comparing Markstrom who’s on the back end of his contract with goalies who are just getting started for the most part

And if they’re not just getting started than a lot of these goalies will be making more than Markstrom and the devils don’t have the cap space to pay a goalie $8m while trying to pay all these young talent

Saros, Igor, Sorokin, Vasi, Hellebuyck, maybe Hill, etc are $8m goalies

Canucks won’t trade Demko. Thompson seems like the eventual replacement for Hill. Binnington, georgiev, Jarry, UPL, Pyotr are decent. Ingram looks like he took over the starting position. Monty just got extended so unlikely he moves.

For the prices Calgary fans want for Markstrom (NJD 2024 1st+Holtz)??

Potentially everyone but Shesterkin, Helle, Vasy, Sorokin, Demko. (And if NYI decides to rebuild at any point Sorokin could be available) Oops I forgot to include Oetter on my list of goalies I’d rather have.

Right. I suppose. Who does NJ go after if not Markstrom? Do they have G prospects that are marinating somewhere? I highly doubt the Bruins move Swayman. Maybe Ullmark but not to a contender in the same Conference.

80% of players who go through arbitration are on a new team in 2 years. Ullmark has a 16 team NTC. If you limit yourself to only the west you end up with 1 potential buyer. LAK.

Any goalie in the league you go after.

Or, if Markstrom comes at a reasonable price that fairly values his contract, age, and historical play, sure you trade for him.

If you’re going to overpay (like Calgary wants for Markstrom) might as well overpay for someone else

It will definitely be hard to move JM without RS. I’d say $1.5-2 m in RS. Not sure Conroy wants to do that.

lol. Flames get a lot of **** on this site for how delusional we are with some of our players and sometimes its justified. But I will say, from Toffoli being worth a 1st + to markstrom going to NJ for peanuts. Devs fans are sneaky delusional.

You seem strangely obsessed with Jacob.

Who do you think will be the new GM once Fitz gets punted for obvious reasons?

Fitz has certainly done a better job than Conroy.

Just be grateful nobody wants to play in Calgary or Conroy would have given Elias Lindholm 9 million dollars a year until he was 40

This is very obviously an attempt to get me to say that Markstrom isn't worth his contract (he is) but if you were signing him for only 2 years then no He wouldn't get 6 mil. Markstrom was signed for 6 tho hence 6 mil. Seems pretty standard. Is your argument that 6 mil for only 2 years of Markstrom is only worth a 2nd because if so you would be sorely mistaken. Although I am curious if Fitzgerald thought the same thing considering it sounds like he went around offering pennies for goalies and then complained in his post tdl presser about how GMs wouldn't just give him a starting goalie because he asked nicely.

I’m asking you for a legitimate valuation of what you think Jacob Markstrom would provide in the next 2 years. It’s a very simply question.

Frankly I don’t think he’ll be worth his contract, but NJD needs a goalie so willing to give up +ve value.

It’s a very simple question to use for a valuation
