You aren't getting Holloway and our first that easy, if you add Merkulov then maybe, but if you want Holloway and our first, then swap Debrusk for Trent Fredrick and then add Merk, then we have a conversion

Gudas is worth more than Debrusk. He’s not going anywhere but even if he was available that offer for him is awful.

Full NTC for Gudas, he's not waiving to go to Boston. But he'd be a great add. If resigning DeBrusk is off the table, this would be a great return

Radko Gudas is the only NHL-qualified RhD we currently have under contract for next season, and he's a fan-, coach- and team-favorite stud. (Did you get to see him Rob-Blake-hip-check Jack Hughes off his skates last night?) Anaheim won't trade him for anything reasonable even if he didn't have an absolute NTC.

Zack Hyman at 27 (Debrusk's current age) scored 21 goals. That was playing with Tavares. The same year DeBrusk scored 27 goals playing with David Krejci at age 22. Now I love Krejci but Tavares is a better C.

If we take the 3 years leading up to this season for DeBrusk and the 3 season prior to Hyman coming to the Oilers (wiping out the covid season for Hyman), Hyman averaged 0.28g/gm or 17g/season. DeBrusk averaged 0.325g/gp or 21.6g/season. If you compare that to the last 3 season where Hyman has been playing with McDavid, he's averaged 0.49g/gp, good for an extra 17 goals per season. So you're telling me you don't want DeBrusk, who is younger and arguably more talented than Hyman, knowing he would likely score about 0.57g/gp which means he'd average over 40 goals per season for the next 4 or 5 seasons?

Now I didn't do well in statistics in high school but you wouldn't give up a fringe NHLer and a late first for what would likely be the best pure winger McDavid has ever played with? Thats just dumb.

This is sorta why stats only get you so far when evaluating a player, you gotta watch the games to know the full picture.

Hyman's play style is what makes him such a perfect winger for McD, not to say Debrusk couldnt flurish but expecting the same bump is insanely wishful thinking.
I'm not sure what Debrusk goes for rn, but if Boston cant sign him and he wants to go to his home team we can wait for the offseason and not spend 2 valuable assets to get him.

I'm also not seeing the reason why Boston wants to move him, even if he leaves at the end of the year.

Just to add to what @PurpleHippo already said to you, Hyman might not be more talented than Debrusk, but he is definitely a harder worker and definitely knows where to go to get those goals where as in Debrusk works basically on talent, and then there's the Tavares and Krejci comparison you speak of, LOL, David's rings speak more hockey than Tavares's career, LOL, also, another perfect example of hard work, so, if you want to sell Debrusk with a high price tag, I highly doubt any real GM would bite, Jake needs a pretty good center man to produce, you also just said that about Krejci and Debrusk, therefore, no deal, we'll all just wait for the summer to give him the contract he deserves rather than placing an awful bet on him that he actually produces, he's most likely going to sign short term prove yourself contract than giving him a long term high price tag contract in which we all know cannot happen with the Bruins cap at this moment UNLESS they move some pieces and let Gryzz walk in the summer.

This is funny, because I think DeBrusk has the kind of playstyle that McDavid would help too. Granted I haven't watched too much of Hyman in EDM (too late at night for me) but I think they're kind of similar finishers but DeBrusk has been bred into having a 2 way element to his game

I wouldn't put Hyman and Debrusk on the same tier, Hyman is an extremely elite in close goal scorer and amazing defensively, there is genuinely no part of his game he is bad because of his insane work ethic.
Debrusk is great and I hope EDM gets him but (and I know Boston fans are gunna lose their **** on this) he's closer in value to Foegele.
If Monahan is getting a late 1st and conditional 3rd then Debrusk is returning a 2nd, maybe late 1st with a pick coming back the other way.
