It’s more likely that the Canes send futures or KK as the roster player, it with half retained it’s enticing.

I don’t know if Blues would but I don’t have any interest in Kotkamniemi

Canes have no interest in this. Buch is an inferior player. At half retained, he makes 600k less. Sure, he's got one more year, but Necas is RFA on expiry where Buch will just walk as a UFA. There's no deal where Buchnevich can be the centerpiece for Necas. Necas could be the centerpiece in a deal, but Thomas or Kyrou would have to come back, not Buchnevich

Says who? Not saying this is the magic package for everyone involved, but the Blues are not Chicago or San Jose. A stack of faraway futures teams want to give up ain't gonna cut it. Something is going to have to hurt to part with.

Says who? Says hockey history. Maybe if it was a soon to be RFA who was younger, less established with some more projection to live up to. But for an already established player, not at the deadline

Huh? I don't follow. Coming from an organization that has swiped the likes of Hull and Oates as youngsters, and has traded away the likes of Brind'amour and Mullen as youngsters, your history book is cherry-picking. Like I said, you're not dealing with Chicago here. This is not a one size fits all, grab your trade comps situation, man. Not every team wants or needs the same pieces. Carolina doesn't want to trade any top prospects, doesn't want to trade any good young players, well, I guess they need to shop elsewhere for someone else. Offering a 1st and a bunch of 3rds or a 1st and your 9th best prospect is not even worth trying. Obviously.

I mean 30+ years ago is hockey history but not the comparable hockey history

In the cap era these trades don’t happen often if at all. When they do the other team regrets it for giving up a controllable top 6 player for a non controllable player.

I didn’t make this proposal. Asking for way more than you would get for Buchnevich at the trade deadline isn’t some way to combat other people offering you a 1st and the 9th best prospect or whatever you say

Okay, first of all, it's also not my AGM, I didn't throw support behind the trade idea and I'm not eager to trade Buch, either, so I have not asked for anything. I was replying solely to your comments. Secondly, in the cap era, trades of near ready prospects/contributing youngsters happen all the time. Suzuki, Tuch, Shak, Schenn, PLD, Laine, Sillinger, Lindgren, Forsberg, Bishop etc etc etc. That was straight off the top of my head, but we could go on for a good while. It was a HUGE cherry pick.

Maybe this would go easier if you tell me what you think the right offer is. Coz if you think a 1st and a mid prospect gets Buch, you're gonna need to get used to disappointment, bud.

Buch is inferior. If Necas goes, Thomas or Kyrou has to come back. Cmon.

Inferior player? Really well this website that you spend half you life on rates Buch as a 90 and Necas as an 81 so…

Buch is inferior to Necas. Not sure how you can argue that, what I said was if you want Necas going, it's got to be in a package for Thomas or Kyrou. If you can't read, that's your problem

Cool, they're also brand new to rating players so I'm not taking anything from that. Buch and Necas are scoring at a similar pace, but Necas is 5 years younger lmao. Combine that with his control as an RFA rather than 18 months to UFA status, there's no doubt who the inferior asset is

You said he was an inferior player - he’s not - Buch is better and scouting ratings here and elsewhere say that. Great - u control Necas…meaning you are going to have to pay him $8m next year where as you would get Buch for $2.9m in this scenario.

Except he's not, but okay. If you think Buch is better, keep him! See where that gets you. Necas is the better player, he's got the same scoring rate while playing with far lesser players and in a much more defensive system, without 1st PP unit time too. Plus, Buchnevich would only make 2.9 for an extra 12 months, and then he's want what... 8? Why not just keep the younger, superior player?

Because maybe your owner decides he wants to actually try and win in the playoffs for once

Bold talk for a fan of an organization that's existed for double the amount of time as the Hurricanes and has done the same amount of winning...
