Description
Don't pay too much attention to the values. Roster is set for 2028 playoffs.

*Things to Note*
- Tkachuk trade happens at the 28 Trade deadline when he is a upcoming UFA.
- Didn't really try on value for Buffalo trade. I like Krebs and would make certain moves to grab him from a rather young and abundant Buffalo.
- 2024 draft. Blues Draft Yakemchuk with their pick around 11. Draft Jiricek with EDM's pick around 20.
-Would be more prospects from the next draft to offset any of these prospects that don't pan out.
- Plenty of flexibility with cap and depth with prospects so I didn't worry about measuring cap.
- Also there are some players that may have some value being traded as rentals that I didn't account for.

It’s a good looking team but in all likelihood at least one of these players will bust sadly

It's at the 2028 deadline, so there could be a number of reasons. Ottawa doesn't want to sign him into 30s or he doesn't want to sign another contract with the team.

Yeah I get that, but I also didn't really account for the 2025 draft or any rewards we get from trading somebody like Binnington at some point.

I need better reading comprehension, I'm sorry! I thought the trade was now and then you were projecting a 2028 roster after it. Carry on haha

You're good. I assume by 2028 two 1st would be at least a starting point for Tkachuk as a rental and Dumping Schenn.

Doubt they'd move Krebs rn. I'd do Mitts for Faulk 1 for 1

It didn't neccessairily have to be this deadline or even offseason. I might get blasted for Mitts for Faulk 1 for 1, but honestly clearing out the cap space would be really nice. It gives me something to think about.

Does Mitts have an estimated price range for next contract?

That's a heavy price but getting a potential point per game player at 2.9 million for a year and a half is just sooo tempting. Edmonton probably accepts even if those assets are better spent elsewhere

Could see Brady asking to go to STL or FLA in 2028 if not staying in Ottawa, but Schenn will be 36 turning 37 then so makes zero sense to have him going to Ottawa. Who knows what other pieces STL will have then but the only piece you have that I would be happy getting in return is Thomas, which makes no sense as he would be a big part in why Brady would want to go to STL.

Schenn was just to balance cap, but there is no chance Thomas would be the return on a Rental Brady Tkachuk when Thomas would still have term on his contract. Two firsts plus maybe something else small would be enough for Tkachuk if he wanted out.

Let's be real though, Brady wouldn't be going to STL to be a rental, he'd be going there to retire a Blue so the cost would be steep.

How does that change the price if his contract is expiring? He will have a full NMC and if he wants out in 2028 you take what you get and you don't throw a fit. Whether he signs in STL or not isn't something Ottawa gets rewarded for.

Good GMs squeeze value out of those situations...

Let me know when you get one of those...

Jk. I agree with you I just don't think has any leverage on those talks and we know how Tkachuks can be if they want moved. I'm not saying STL is neccessairily Brady's first choice, but I don't see him wanting to stay unless Ottawa is a top 10 team by then, unless you offer him a ridiculous salary.

-Tkachuk has a NMC, so you can't really shop him and start a bidding war, because he really gets to choose where he goes.
-If there are places Brady wants to play they will become known to other GM's.
-He would be a rental, so he isn't as vaulable because he would have to be signed into his thirties with a bag.

I think that is too rich for the Blues then. We can't sign another forward at that price right now.

Mitts would cost on the 7x7 range, so it saves no Cap for StL

And Faulk is NOT the stay at home type defenseman the Sabres NEED
Shibbal might be willing to do that- but in real life, the Sabres won’t be interested in him

Since arriving in St.Louis, in his first four seasons, he has posted a (+45) rating while being deployed in all situations and matching up against top forwards.
Averages north of 22:00 TOI overall
Despite his stats, he's aggressive directing pucks on net in the offensive zone. The bulk of his offense comes at ES. Moves well. Has escape ability from deep in his zone. Can lead the rush or join as an extra layer. Defensive detail, and push back, has improved as he aged. On pace for over 100 hits and 150 shot blocks. Overall role falls between high end 2D and solid 1D.

And yet he isn’t the physical, shut down type we need
Plus, u seem to really like guys over 30
They just don’t fit our timeline
And it’s risky taking on a Cap hit for a guy that age who could drop off at any minute
Not that he will for sure, we just don’t know

I for one, would prefer to limit the risk
Especially since a RD2 isn’t turning us into a Cup Contender
