Interesting, I am a big Ceulemans fan. But rather see if they would take Samuelsson over Joker. IMO Samuelsson and Dahlin don't make a good pair.

I would demand Samuelsson over Joker, personally.

Not taking anything away from Joker, just think he fits better with Dahlin

samuelsson would only make sense for us if he plays a shut-down style that would work on a third pair (im unfamiliar with his game, so idk if he does). the contract is long but honestly not a bad deal in the rising cap era. our top two LHD next season and the following three years is already penciled in as Werenski and Mateychuk, so we need a solid third pair guy to put with Gudbranson in shut down situations and to kill penalties.

however, we would never acquire joker's RFA rights. we already have gudbranson and severson under contract as RHD for the next two seasons and their deals are pretty unmoveable and jiricek is going to be an NHL RHD by the start of next season, if not sooner. we're actively trying to sell RHD because we have more than we need.

taking on mitts doesn't really fit our team at all. he's due for serious money this summer and we already need to get deals to four major RFAs. even if we trade Boone, our top three centers are Fantilli, Voronkov, and Sillinger and our top three left wingers are Gaudreau, Chinakhov, and Kent Johnson. i just dont see acquiring mitts making any sense for us in a teambuilding sense, no matter how many of those 6 listed players he is better than right now. he's older than all but gaudreau.

however, i think the value here is pretty reasonable.

Yeah I would do this trade if samuelsson was included over joker. That would alllow the jackets to trade provorov. I would probably flip Mitts as well and try to draft lindstrom

Pretty much Samuelsson's game. Blocks a lot of shots and usually doesn't mind throwing the Body. Hurt his Shoulder early on in the season and tried to play through it. But they shut him down for the season. When Healthy he IMO is a good 2nd pair Defensive D who can play a solid 18 0r 19 minutes a game.
