3 1st rounders(1already in the NHL trending to be a solid middle 6er) is too much for a rental! If EDM were able to extend than it's a diff story but they can't afford to do it.

I urge you to realize that Picks and prospects are magic beans. They mean nothing to either team but a gamble.

1st round picks mean nothing, look at the 1st round class of 2016, lots of filler and failures. 2017 and 2018 haven't been much better.

What UFA rentals are you seeing that are getting 3 1sts as a return? Teams don't throw away their past 1st rounders because you don't know anything about them

I think Canucks would do raty 1st and a 2nd as the base instead of Hoglander and Podkolzin, Hoglander has been too good on a cheap contract to move him, don't think they'd be ready to give up on Podklozin either

You're right!!! The penguins should just take all the dogwater assets the oilers have for a bonefied 40 goal scoring elite winger to make a cup run so McDavid can finally win a cup.

Pens should just take Nurse and Campbell.

Acting like a total fool isn't helping your argument.

Sure but Vancouver isn't going to be trading a guy like Hoglander on top of a 1st for a ufa, Hoglander has brought a lot of value at 1.1mil, value that will be desperately needed next year with the Pettersson and Hronek extensions i understand you got to give to get but if it's off the roster it's most likely going to be Mikheyev

It ain't gonna be Mikheyev, I can tell you that.

Y'all can ship him to chicago.

Rutherford is ruthless, he won't be afraid to spend.

Dubas loves Mikheyev i'm sure he has no problem acquiring him again, Rutherford is ruthless but not dumb he isn't going to move Hoglander when provides too much Value this year and the upcoming ones while the team is a contender.

I think you should prepare yourself for disappointment. Pens need to move him or he will walk. They can’t afford him otherwise. He will likely get a 1st but I don’t think any high end prospects along with it. There aren’t a lot of teams with 1sts, the ability to absorb his salary and the need for a high end rental. I agree with above, the trade deadline market never yields a big return. You can dispute that all you want; Dubas doesn’t have the leverage here and the other GM’s know it.

Look over the history of this site, it’s filled with fans of non playoff or bubble teams loudly overvaluing their pending ufa player just to be disappointed when reality hits. Don’t join that infamous group!
Guentzel will be an impact add for some team @ TDL but no one goes for equivalent 3 x 1sts 🤦🏻

None of these are 3 1st equivalents. They are two late 1sts and a borderline bust for a 40 goal scorer 50% retained. None of these are that far fetched.

Why would he walk if the pens don’t trade him and since when are the pens unable to re-sign him? They have like 17 million in cap space next year and he’s the only big free agent that’s due for a contract. Not to mention I highly doubt Reilly smith is still on this team next year which frees up another 5 million.
