I like the idea of adding a Ryan Lindgren to this team, but the Rangers can easily afford to extend him

Have they fixed their cap? unless Chytil is done for good, I think they will be tight to the cap again and could look to moving him over Miller

Fans are hearing Lindgren is will to take a very cheap contract at like 3.5m per x 8 years. He wants term and to be a Rangers for life.

The Rangers will be able to afford Lindgren’s extension even if Chytil comes back and Goodrow isn’t bought-out or traded. They will probably have 5 forwards making less than $1 million per year assuming only one of Rempe or Othmann is on the roster to start the year.

It’s not a bad trade. Robertson would be a good RW for them. But Lindy is the glue of the team I don’t see them trading him. They can extend him pretty easily

NYR only have to pay Lindgren, Schneider and Kakko next year. None of which will command a huge pay raise. Say an extra $6-7m total at most? Cap is going up minimally $4m

Kakko - $3m*4yrs = $900k incresae
Lindgren - $5m*4yrs = $2m increase
Schneider - $2.5m*3yrs = $1.6m increase

Total = $4.5m with potential room to spare

NYR also will probably buyout Goodrow giving an additional $3.88m in cap space. Bring up Othmann, Jones, and maybe Perreault to fill in holes in lineup. Can completely fit under the cap.

Get rid of the prospects and just sent a 1st. Or Timmins+2nd

They have a lot of cheap guys and ELCs coming so not really too bad. Can they go out and give big money to someone? probably not, but their cap situation isn’t dire by any means. Goodrow is wild card and do they buy him out or not, that would be an additional 3.8 mill on top of the 4ish 🤔on the salary cap lift. So 8 million or so to play with

I think Lindgren would stay under 5 mill imo. 2 years they go higher for him and loyalty type thing. But I think he goes 4 yrs 4.5 max

TBH if it's above $4m or 4 years I'm shopping him across the league. Love the guy but his brand of hockey does not equate to longevity in the NHL.
