I wouldn't say its bad enough that it needs to be dumped. If there is a trade to be had then fine, but he isn't bad as a middle six veteran with only a few more years of term. I would cash in for a 3rd though since we will have prospects trickling in.

He's a 31 year old one-dimensional winger who offers not much of anything other than scoring and his scoring is very inconsistent and signed to two more years passed this. If a team is willing to take his cap-hit off the books without sending back a salary they'd jump all over it.

Because he serves as stopgap roster player during our retool. We have a lot of forward prospects who will crack the roster over the next 3 years but are not ready yet.

Our defensive contract structure is the real issue and most of those contracts are sadly untradeable. The Blues are pretty locked into sitting pat for a few years while contracts expire and by then the prospects and cap space will be in place to create a much deeper team.

Huh? Saad has the worst defensive numbers on STL. His expected goals against per 60 5v5 is 5th percentile in the NHL. He is objectively terrible on defense.

I don't really find that as a fair number to isolate a winger to, in general i dont think it's a great stat in general unless you're just comparing it within teammattes. It's pretty isolated to different playstyles.

That being said, Saad doesn't really do anything anyways. He gets streaky every once in a while and scores some goals. His pretty much sole purpose seems to be to stretch the ice. IT's fine for now as we aren't really trying to be overly compettive, but more so respectable for the length of his contract. Wouldn't pay to dump him, but wouldn't be upset if they just waived him. We don't really have anyone that needs to push into that middle 6 lineup right now that doesn't have a spot so it's pretty inconsequential.

You could compare to the rest of Blues forwards. He is the worst. In fact, he is the worst on the team regardless of forward or defenseman.
