Sorry the 2nd is only transfered if the Habs 1st is top 5 and sent to Anaheim, otherwise the Ducks keep it

Thanks for laying this out for everyone.

Now can all the other Habs fans who think that they're getting Zegras for spare parts PLEASE stop annoying us?

i think zegras is pretty overrated, but that condition is just silly. imagine that phone call.
"we'll give you first rounder in 2024."
"wow, that's great, we place a ton of value on that pick as it's likely to be very high."
"well, you can't have it if it's a high pick."

Are you bent? This happens all the time, teams add all kinds of protections to picks. Top 10 protected, lottery protected, top 5 protected, top 3 protected. It literally happens at least once a year. In this instance Zegras isn't worth any one of Celebrini/Eiserman/Lindstrom/Levshunov + Mesar + Farrell, so protection has to be added incase any of those are available. Now Habs also don't need Levshunov so that would be why they would trade their 2024 1st even if it was top 5 but would also need to get back a bit of value since Levshunov + Mesar + Farrell is too much for Zegras

Remove Farrell and the 2nd and that’s probably fair value. That said, I see no reason ANA should move him for fair value right now when they need exactly what he brings, so I’d still expect that they don’t entertain it

stand down soldier! no need to get defensive. yes, it does, "literally," happen all the time, but not exactly like this. It usually happens with a future first when a team is expected to be good, or at very least decent, and they're protecting themselves in case of disaster. It's really rare that a mid-season trade is made and the pick that year is protected. the whole point of anaheim wanting to do this would be the potential for that high pick, that's the issue.

and again, settle down.

WTH are you saying settle down for? Are you here at my house hiding in a closet being a creep? Who said I was worked up, I simply said that this kind of protection happens all the time and the couple of Anaheim fans that have commented even said that it makes sense value wise, which suggests that you are just here to troll seeing as you are a Bruins fan and that is your nature on everything Habs related. However you can fight that instinct and actually use that thing between your ears once in a while.

ahhh yes, the, "you disagree with me so you're a troll," stance. I thought that was a bit late.

I am fine with you disagreeing, it's the BS "calm down" comments I take offense to. I am calm, not even worked up a little but it's arrogant of you to tell someone to calm down when you have no idea what their emotional situation is in the first place. Also the fact that Ducks fans are agreeing with the entire trade package and even the conditions suggests that you are just here to troll since you have no "skin" in the trade anyway. You are as bad as Lancebmx, sticking your nose into things that don't concern your team just to state some "precieved" notion that the protection condition is "just silly" even though history shows protections on top 10, top 5, top 3 and lottery picks happen all the time. There have even been conditions that either team chooses whether they want that years pick or the next years. For example if the Flames pick this year is between 20-32 the Habs have the choice of taking the 2024 1st or the 2025 1st, this is literally the reverse of what I put in place but teams have also done my way in the past,l. So now unless you have an actual, fact based response and not just your nearsighted, trolling opinion, p*** off!!!

P.S. that is how you can tell if someone is getting irritated with you, they will tell you to P*** OFF
