Imo Brodz at 3C is fine with how well he's played. My main concern here is that this is the best Rangers team we've had since we've made it back into playoff contention. We have a clear as day slot at the top 6 RW and I feel like we're really not maxing out on this team if we don't go for a bigger fish for Mika's RW.

yeah, ok. watch more Rangers games. He's been great as our 3C ever since Chytil got injured and he's had to fill that role.

Danforth wont be traded, since we extended him already, but you can have a retained Rosy for a 3rd no problem.

TBH Brodzinski, Danforth and Roslovic are interchangeable.

and the team is 11-3-1 since moving Brodzinski to 3C, while that 3rd line has dominated possession and has been a +4.

But hey, you do you bud.

I figure with a new GM, all bets (including prior trades & extensions) are off.

Davidson really liked Robertson from his time in NY, Would have to believe he'd pay the price of Danforth to get him.

New GM won’t be hired until the summer. JD is handling the TDL and they like Danforth a lot, which is why they recently extended him.

They will want to wait and let the new GM decide what to do with the guys who have term. Any moves at the deadline will be for guys on expiring contracts. Roslovic, Bean, Blankenburg are the only other candidates I see to be traded.

I think they like Danforth too much to move him and i dont think JD is going to go out and get players he wants since he is likely out in the offseason. Supposedly hes only being kept around to help get us to the end of the season and the GM search then will likely retire.

We'll see. Columbus clearly entering a rebuild (not like they weren't already in one) and the extension is for a single year. Would think he's far from untouchable if there's a player JD covets since he's really calling the shots at the deadline.

Yeah that just doesn't make a ton of sense team building wise. You'd think a 30 year old bottom 6er would be expendable for a team in a rebuild for a prospect they like. Also kinda unclear whether JD likes Danforth as much as Jarmo did...

We just don't know. Seems premature to write it off.

you'd think, but also you'd think we definitely wouldn't play him on a premium line...

134 minutes 5v5 with fantilli and gaudreau.

we're so dumb bro, don't underestimate us.

I mean you are assuming JD, who will only be with the team for a few more months, is going to trade players for a prospect he likes. That makes no sense, i doubt he has that kind of autonomy.

Of course anything can happen, we have no idea. There have been no reports of Danforth being available, we just extended him in Oct, and even though we are rebuilding you have to have some veterans peppered in the lineup and a good 4th liner can help alot more than adding another prospect to the pile that we already have.

I mean, you could be 100% right. It just seems more likely that we keep him right now, we'll just have to see.

Even so, I think NYR need to add a bit more to pry him loose. An absolute Swiss army knife of a veteran player, with another year, on a dirt cheap contract, costs more than a guy who would likely be our 3rd or 4th best LD prospect (Mateychuk, Svozil, Christiansen?). Not writing it off, and it's not far off, but hey we're here to discuss, right?
