EDM tells both you & PIT to pound sand. The going rate for being the 3rd party in a retention deal is usually around a 4th or 5th, not a 2nd.

PIT would not be the team paying MTL anything to double retain on Guentzel, so we’ll be keeping our 7th in this scenario.

Also, MTL is not getting a 2nd from EDM for 1.5 million of retained salary. Try a 4th.

EDM also wouldn't need double retention with Foegele going the other way.

Arizona received a 3rd round pick for a 2,625M retention on the Patrick Kane trade to the NYR.....

So, if Montreal send Guentzel (with a massive retention) and a 4th round pick, expect Kent Hughes (who is a harder negociator than Bill Armstrong ) requiring the 2nd round pick as a minimal price for the rerention.

If Arizona got a 3rd for retaining 2.625 million, and MIN recently got a 5th for retaining 1 million, then MTL getting a 4th for retaining 1.5 million makes perfect sense. You just proved my point.

Teams aren’t going to jump through hoops and bend over backward just so your team can benefit more. A 4th for 1.5 million in retention is perfectly reasonable.

Personally, I think EDM would much rather pay for double retention on Guentzel and keep Foegele for the run.

Probably was just saying in his proposal it wasn't required.

I doubt the penguins are high enough on Holloway to make this trade to begin with.
You are talking about a 22 year old player who in 23 games has 4 points.
There isn't much value there.

Pittsburgh want's a same type of return that the Flyers received for Giroux in 2022 (and they received Tipped and a 1st round pick).

A it helps when you get the name right.
B. no one knows what they are "looking" for, it's all speculation, mainly from clickbait people who speculate off previous trades. So please stop telling me what they want, you don't know.
It is just as likely they are looking for a top NHL prospect than a 22 year old player who can't make a roster consistently.
C. Holloway isn't Tippet. Holloway is a scratch. Tippet was a fulltime NHL player.

Holloway has been as well. He was injured in the 1st game of Knoblauch's tenure and then played some conditioning games in Bakersfield but would've otherwise been in the NHL the whole time. If you're referring to the game he missed the other night, he was sick. You can certainly make the argument that he's not quite as good as Tippett, but you don't need to be inaccurate while doing so.
