HABS accept even though I don't want Matheson to leave the HABS as he has been our best Dman this year

The offer is too good to deny

I don't think that Brodie (because he's a UFA), Jones, Voit or Timmins have anything more than negligible value.

Wow! I would have thought that Habs fans would be unanimous in rejecting this offer. Robertson doesn't seem like an object of interest when you have Caufield, Newhook and Roy at LW already with Harvey-Pinard, Heineman and Tuch on the way up (and maybe Mysak and Arber's brother), Voit has struggled with injuries and the pick isn't until 2026.

Habs can do soooooo much better, and btw players like Matheson only get traded for established young players not a late 1st with very low percentage if netting a player of his level of impact

I completely agree with you completely, this trade is simply not helping montreal and the rebuild

Basically we would have traded Jeff Petry for your haul. Many rumors about Matheson trades but not sure we can get more. Even if Robertson wouldn't be in the plans, HABs could always package him with a couple of 1st rds and a young D to Ducks for Zegras. So I see the potential as a Methson for Zegras tade in the end

Sebastian Aho was a 2nd rd pick, Jiri Kulich was a late pick. Value could be found with late picks

Still "low percentage"

If and when Matheson gets traded it'll be for a young established young player, or a player/prospect package) this is how it works (for example the pacioretty trade)

No they cant. Unlike yourself, GMs can see that Matheson is a PP merchant with horrific defensive numbers. If a GM offers a 3rd rounder for him, you take it. Hes the type of player who just falls of a cliff and now they have yet another cap dump

Seattle wouldn't go for that trade offer. Even if they fall out of the playoff race this year, they will be looking for a swift turnaround next season. Larsson and Daccord would be major parts of that, so they're not going anywhere barring an offer too good to refuse. This isn't that. The draft capital isn't enough for both players, and Brodie and Jones, by virtue of being expiring contracts, would have little value to the Kraken except as sallary ballast in this scenario, as trading Larsson and Daccord would signal they are punting on this year. And yes, I am aware Seattle could theoretically flip Brodie for another asset, but I'm not convinced he has much standalone trade value considering his cap hit, age, and step back in play.

As a Habs fan, hard to say no to that even if we don’t wanna see him leave
