bro time and Granlund Campbell swap and Reim time

Description
Just a thought...

Broberg has the NHL game experience but can't seem to stay in the Oilers lineup and starting next year, he needs to clear waivers so.... make the team or bust time.

Leafs Niemela has zero Nhl experience but still has elc status and doesn't need waivers next year. The question is... does Trelving like this Dubas leftover or not>?

Just fooling around with a Granlund for Campbell trade.

Oilers could use added scoring and find a way to dump Campbell.

SJS will be a team stockpiling Draft picks and will need contracts to reach the bottom floor of the salary cap.

EDM needs to go on a run and move Kulak in the off-season to recoup some picks & make room for Broberg.

Detroit accepts!

If I'm Toronto I wouldn't make that trade.

I guess it all depends on Trevling, Niemela is a Dubas leftover and Broberg has Nhl game experience on the west coast, so I'm sure Trevling has seen Broberg play more than Niemela.

At this point Broberg is a 2nd or 3rd pair. Niemelä is probably the same a 2nd or 3rd pair. But Niemelä is an RHD and they are in way higher demand.

Holding onto a prospect just because he is a RH can be a waste of time, just look at the Leafs and Timmins... I know his main problem is health but even when healthy he wasn't everyday 3rd pair material.

Yeah but Timmons is 25 and has already played 82 games and as you said he's still struggling to be a 3rd pair dman. Niemelä is 21 and hasn't played in the NHL yet. But that's normal because defensemen do take longer to develop and it usually takes longer for Europeans to adjust to North American hockey. Those things apply to Broberg as well but he has played in 79 games and hasn't looked very good either. Broberg has also played 67 games in the AHL over the course of 3 seasons. This is Niemelä's first season in the AHL and he is playing as well if not better Broberg.

I almost want to say Detroit needs Campbell in the deal if you want Reimer. Big lol to both goalies. But we need another goalie with Husso injuries and would take the compensation that comes with him

True... I hear from Oiler fans all the time, Broberg is Nhl ready but yea, 3 seasons mixed with Nhl and Ahl games.

I guess Dubas has had us Leaf fans forget how young players develop because under Dubas watch none of his prospects made the full time Nhl transition until this year (after Dubas left, lol) Knies and Robertson.

My other thought on Broberg v. Niemela for the Leafs: the Oilers have 5 Nhl Dmen under contract next season, while the Leafs only have 2 Nhl (+ 1 RFA) Dmen signed.

So Broberg can get his big chance easier on the Leafs meanwhile the Oilers can wait for Niemela to develop without worrying about waiver wires.

Campbell in SJS makes perfect sense, maybe the Cali sun will re-spark this young years of being a LAK.

Yeah Niemela isn't doing a lot to help Toronto win now and probably do much next season as well. With Broberg you can put him in to the line op right away.
