Not sure they would. Wanted to throw this out there to see what people think. Originally I hade the trade have all the same players but instead of the 2 seconds it was a 1st and Bourgault.
I decided this was too much seeing that Parayko is having a bad year and the athletic rated his contract as one of the worst on the blues roster.
The athletic bases those solely off of analytics. Analytics for defenseman lean heavily towards what forwards you play with. The Blues for the past couple of years have deployed Parayko in a role to the tune of a 35%ozs. They are also a one-line team that is fairly underwhelming in terms of scoring. His analytics are going to be bad, especially by Doms model.
Regardless that doesn't matter. Parayko is the absolute pillar of the Blues defense. He plays strictly defensive matchups and still gets around 10G 20A a season.
There is no world they can afford to trade him if they are wanting to compete in 2-3 years as the Pres of Hockey Ops/GM has stated without a young top end D coming back.
Neither Toronto or Edmonton has that piece although there have been 5 proposals for him to go there in the last 3 hours. All include the same conglomeration of a late 1st, B/C prospect, cap dumps. That doesn't help the Blues at all.
Even if you switched both 2nds in this proposal to 1sts, it does nothing to help the Blues reconstruct their defense in 2-3 years.
