Not sure they would. Wanted to throw this out there to see what people think. Originally I hade the trade have all the same players but instead of the 2 seconds it was a 1st and Bourgault.

I decided this was too much seeing that Parayko is having a bad year and the athletic rated his contract as one of the worst on the blues roster.

I'm not interested in trading him. Like the Blues. But hypothetically, it would need to start with a strong young top 4 RD prospect/a strong reasonably young top 4 RD to replace Parayko and/or a 24 1st, neither of which the OIlers has. Your offer is miles less desirable than that hypothetical offer. In reality, though, he's just not available.

I don't think I would say he is having a bad year and he is far from the worst blues contract. Every other contract we have in our top 4 D is far worse than paraykos.

The athletic bases those solely off of analytics. Analytics for defenseman lean heavily towards what forwards you play with. The Blues for the past couple of years have deployed Parayko in a role to the tune of a 35%ozs. They are also a one-line team that is fairly underwhelming in terms of scoring. His analytics are going to be bad, especially by Doms model.

Regardless that doesn't matter. Parayko is the absolute pillar of the Blues defense. He plays strictly defensive matchups and still gets around 10G 20A a season.

There is no world they can afford to trade him if they are wanting to compete in 2-3 years as the Pres of Hockey Ops/GM has stated without a young top end D coming back.

Neither Toronto or Edmonton has that piece although there have been 5 proposals for him to go there in the last 3 hours. All include the same conglomeration of a late 1st, B/C prospect, cap dumps. That doesn't help the Blues at all.

Even if you switched both 2nds in this proposal to 1sts, it does nothing to help the Blues reconstruct their defense in 2-3 years.

Nothings for sure atm. there's a bunch of rumors that the blues are looking to trade him. Also I don't think anyone is going to trade a young top 4 D for Parayko. he's on the wrong side of 30 signed until he's 37 and you could probably get someone as good as him for cheaper. if it was parayko like 2-3 years ago I would say no doubt he's worth that but with his contract and age, I don't think he's worth that anymore

Just a question, how many Blues games do you watch on average a year?

Define a "top end D" like are you talking about a Clarke or Nemec?

Like 5 or 6. That's just cuz I don't find them interesting to watch. No one really catches my eye but Buch and apparently he could be on the move too but I doubt he gets moved

Nemec/Jiricek on the high end. Willander, someone of the mold very projectable to be a top 4D in the next couple of years. This could also include guys who are a little bit past prospect status and have played a year or two at the NHL level.

I ask because Parayko is playing the best hockey of his career this year. I get fans not wanting teams to trade for older players. But Dimitri Orlov just signed for 7.75m this offseason. The cap is rising nearly 5m this offseason. What do you think is going to happen to defensive contracts? I'd venture to guess Hanifin signs for close to 8m/year, Skjei will probably be close to 7-7.5, Pesce will probably search for 6-7. Parayko's contract is far from a hamper to this team.

Im not expecting you to have a good pulse of the Blues as a person that's not a fan of the team. But Parayko's contract is the only reason this mismatch of offensive defenseman even have a chance to be close to an average group.

Anytime Parayko is involved, Blues fans go up in arms! We get it, you lost Pietrangelo for nothing. Parayko is solid but not worth what you want as fans.

There are no rumors. One guy put Parayko high on his "trade watch list" and now all the clickbaiters are playing it up. Did you not see the supposed offer they suggested? It was a total joke.

And again, I'm not trying to trade him. I'm not asking for anything. You wanted to know what it would take, I gave you a hypotehtical.

That's not what a rumor is. When one guy places a player on an editorial list, and then a bunch of hack websites and pundits go around saying there are talks for that player, it's not a rumor. It's just clickbait nonsense they've already run 100 times in the past seven years.

It's not happening without a crazy offer they cannot pass up, and even then Parayko, who doesn't want to be anywhere else, has full trade protection. In other words, it's not happening. He's playing the best hockey of his career and they have absolutely nothing in the system to replace him.

Lottery type odds. Still.
