you are close to the truth. but in my opinion, markstrom and hanifin will leave for new jersey. they want an experienced defender. I could be wrong.

The retention is a deal breaker for Calgary. Conroy has gone out of his way to avoid retaining or taking on bad contracts so far. No doubt he's under orders from Murray Edwards to do so.

And Kuzmenko has played great so far, he had a great year just LAST year I would agree with you especially if it was after another bad year, but he really has potential and having the luck to get Hubberdeau a goal scorer is probably also another reason behind it

The only real difference was shooting 27%. Which was never going to be sustainable

Yup it was a gamble but not a bad one. So far it's looking like a very good gamble. Even if Kuzy doesn't pan out in the end we'll still have a 1st + a 3rd/4th and 2 prospects one of which is pretty good. If both Kuzy and Huberdeau continue producing together it's a great trade for us.
