Is there something that Finley offers Montreal that they do not have. His stats make it look as though he would be a 3rd (at best) to 4th liner in the NHL. Does he have some appeal other than his size?

It seems Montreal have many guys who could fill his role in the years to come, but if there is something else that he can do well, it may not be a bad idea. I just do not know what that something else is.

I picked Finley as an additional piece. IMO Savard is worth more than a 3rd at this time. Habs don't need any D prospects, Tampa is short on draft picks. Florida's depth outside of the Big Club is fairly thin, I went with a younger player. Realistically he would stay in Laval and there would be a possibility that his game could grow differently in a new organization.

This trade is on par with a 3rd + the same potential as a 2nd/3rd from 2020.

If we’re trading Savard it’ll definitely be for more than this. A potentially bottom 6 guy (maybe) and a 3rd? The cost will start at a 1st and if we don’t get that we’ll keep him.

well to be fair, if your team doesn't have what to offer Montreal the deal wont be made, they'll be plenty of teams offering something of real interest to Montreal in order to get savard

I would like my post to get laughed at. I am guessing I undervalued him significantly. Would love him to yield a 1st. TBL's next 1st is 2026, which lines up with their timeline of considering a rebuild (depending on re-signings etc). TBL may not be a good trade partner, unless a 3rd team and different assets are involved.

Washington hasn’t started rebuilding, Pittsburgh either, there guys are 37-39 years old. TB may not rebuild as soon as you think. I think they’d consider giving up that pick and we’ll take it. But if not then they won’t be a good partner.
