If Matt Roy is willing to sign that contract, he'll sign it in LA. His contract doesn't become a problem until it's over $5½M.

Kings don't have the room to make that trade until the off season. Doubt they'll want to spend that much for a 3rd line LD.

Alex DeBrincat would like a word. smile

Honestly I'm torn; Berggren, Wallinder and a 1st? Seems like a lot.

OTT had no choice with that one, Cat is from DET and only wanted to go there, Chych has no such restriction so there is ZERO comparison there, hell Chych wants to STAY in OTT close to his sister and grandfather

Agreed but you have to give to get, and Wallinder becomes expendable with Chych and Edvinsson on the roster.

I love this - when someone pretends to know what someone else (whom they've literally never met) wants.

um, he said so himself on i believe his Instagram, also on sports web sites him stating him wanting out was BS....

do some research being showing you are unintelligent.

"Chychrun told Ian Mendes of The Athletic(opens in a new tab) that he believes recent rumours are baseless after being acquired less than a year ago from the Arizona Coyotes.

“I think it’s ridiculous, if I’m being honest,” Chychrun said. “I went through it in Arizona and that was a different situation. But to see it now is a bit ridiculous. And I don’t think it’s based off anything.”

The 25-year-old defenceman strongly disputed the notion he wanted out of Ottawa, telling Mendes he has purchased a house in the area, which he called "a second home.""

Again, it's been seen countless times where a player says he wants to be somewhere or this or that and he's traded or he moves or whatever else...those quotes mean next to nothing.

He has said publicly that he loves LA and wants to stay. However, after seeing what Gavrikov got, I don't see why he would accept anything less than $6M AAV. He's a better defenseman then Gavrikov, and is the more uncommon RHD.

Sure, still is a lot for a D who has a ton of hard minutes on him already at 25. I mean, I watched him play here in AZ. Wallinder and either Berggren *or* the 1st I could see. Forget Fabbri and the 2nd.

But since Ottawa was forced, I'm not sure they want to deal with Detroit. That has nothing about being in the same division because that unwritten rule was another causality of the salary cap. But if Detroit offers enough, I think Ottawa takes it. I don't know if this is enough but its already more than I spend.

But does Detroit need "to get"? Good players get moved all the time Chychrun was available last season, and it looks like he might be again. I don't think Yzerman makes any big moves, and I don't think he should. If we make the playoffs we will go up against a better team with a whole lot more playoff experience. So it really doesn't make sense to go after players we might not need. Yzerman has been patient and stuck to his plan and there is no reason to speed out of it now.

Fair enough. I wouldn't do it and I don't think Detroit needs or would do it.
