Pens aren't moving Ned. If they were, he'd easily get a 2nd.

You're not in the playoff picture, he's a UFA at seasons end. So why wouldn't you trade him.
Hey Ned go chase a cup and we'll call you on July 1st

Secondly it all depends on the market, only team I can think of that would want to trade for a goalie at this time are colorado and toronto.. possibly the flyers and kings if they are still in it.

Now a young goalie prospect approaching the nhl level and a 3rd with no retention is a pretty high value. Maybe Ned gets you a second with full retention

Actually we are in the playoff picture and right now he's the best backup in the league, so yeah, he'd get a 2nd easily.

Absolutely. Right now he's the best back-up in the league and he's been outstanding. I'd say 2nd best to Quick, but it looks like Quick is now the starter in NY lol.

I don't know much about Behrens, but I do think Frost is probably on the table. If Torts is out on Frost (even though he's doing well), this is probably a done deal.

I'm in on Frost, but I feel like this is a lot to pay. Granted it's one of those instances where Philly isn't under any type of pressure to move the guy. Thus, maybe it takes an overpay. I'd certainly start the bidding lower though.

Philly trade I'd probably do but I'd rather go after Novak myself for that price. He may cost more to re-sign but I just like what I see more. Including Behrens really depends on what inclination he's shown to sign. PEB is a maybe. He's not bad but is he really a huge improvement? I wouldn't do the PIT trade from the Avs PoV. Too much for Ned as a rental and you're giving up the only G we have who might be capable of stepping in as the back up next year.

Novak is a uFA and probably costs you 4+mill on a multi-year deal to resign.
Frost is 2 yrs younger, and under control for at least next season which will allow the avs flexibility while the cap moves up.
With behrens signing I'm not holding my breathe.. he'll be behind toews Byram Girard, guluyev.
I traded for PEB because he's got the experience almost 700 reg season games plus playoffs, oloffson has 78 reg season games and they're practically the same player, plus we always trade for a 4th line centre.
NED is the top goalie who could be available this year, annunen has been stringing me along for years now with no signs of strong NHL play.
Colorado should trade for Ned if not just for him just to push geogiev to be better, right now there is zero competition for the #1 spot

Yes, Novak is older but I'd say he's actually the better target and I don't know as he costs 4+. Even then with the Avs likely having to move 1 if not 2 players out for any guy they want at 2C it's do-able. To me that's really a case of take a gut punch in the first round of the fight or the third. Frost may give flexibility now but just kicks the can down the road and likely costs more in the long run for less (or a LOT more for more).

The question with Behrens is, as you say, where he is in the line. He won't be behind Gulyayev because he's likely to go a Kovalenko style route. If one of Byram or Girard is moved for cap space then there's slots opening up. If he's no inclination to sign regardless then you may as well use him as a trade chip. I'm not opposed to moving him if it works, and especially if he's no inclination to sign with the Avs, but I'm also wary on it.

As I said with PEB it's no major improvement, but it's also meh when it's a 7th pick. Not really bothered, but there's also whether he can keep up now as a question mark.

I just don't think that's a smart trade for Ned. It's arguably an overpay anyway, and I really don't like the idea of ditching Annunen. To be fair to him he'd need to get a real shot at the NHL to show any signs of strong play. 2 games in each of three seasons isn't really something you can judge a goalie on in their early 20's. I think there are likely to be cheaper options that for a back up would do just as well for the Avs. I can however see your point if you're thinking of Ned as a 1B to push Georgie but even then.....not a fan of the payout. By preference I'd rather shell out the 2nd as it's back a couple of years or a different prospect/extra pick.

Pens accept. You might get a bidding war. But on principle you got the start price right at a 3rd.

There is a limit to what teams will pay for a backup goalie. It's not like there aren't others out there.

Behrens is probably the best D prospect we have outside Guly
