With everyone locked up, the cap increase the next year would be used for : trusted 3C, another RHD upgrade to go Roy - X - Liljegren, and/or another goalie if needed.

0 chance PIT is taking that on.
You can bury him in the AHL and it will only cost you 200k this year against the cap. As the cap rises the AHL amount will probably increase and cost you even less.

That is your best option for dealing with that. I don't even know why you keep him on roster personally. I'd have sent him down months ago.
