Description
What the hell boys... stop. Please stop, we NEED that top 6 talent... Don't you dare start wining as a last ditch effort to make the playoff.

We are 4 pts from drafting 16th - It's too close for my taste. Lets trade to guarrentee a tank. Get unmotivated vets on expiring contract to take the place of hungry call-ups.

Send Armia to the AHL before he goes on his late-season heater to get us out of the top 5.

AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, play Anderson with CC and Zuke to anihilate their mojo.

Give Covid and food poisoning to Monty - he steals too many games.

Bring Wideman back from Robidas Island.

Send Struble down and bring Norlinder up.

Curse Evans by playing him with Pearson and Gally 18min a night.

What about trading Matheson and Savard too, if they are going to go into full tank mode?

On the book - but I see Matheson as useful next season and Savard is not making us win games right now.

Don't you worry about the culture that this creates for a team and locker room though? Sure it is easy to say that tanking helps get higher draft picks, but I think when you have young players like Slaf, Suzuki, and Caulfield there is something to be said about creating a culture of losing.

I think we can already see that these kids do not give up. CC and Zuke got a taste of the cup final - they want to go back.

I want them to lose while still competing... but still losing by 1 or 2 goals because of inexperience or lazy vets that will be gone.

Fair enough. I just feel like tanking robs young players of really good mentorship and experience, but I wish all the best to you guys. For what it is worth I'm not super impressed with this draft year.

Yeah - it's really a juicy top 5 with a lot of good Dman in the top 10...

Celibrini is also just imo an okay or typical first overall. If you comined 2023,2024, and 2025 I would probably rank Celibrini 5th behind Bedard, Michkov, Hagens, Fantilli in that order. He is much closer to Leo Carlson in my opinion.

The only way to guarantee the tank is to remove the top line and Monty. That's simply not happening. I think you have to come to terms that the Habs will not be bottom 5 and they could be anywhere from 6-15 probably.

As bad as the Habs have been this year, believe it or not, they are better than a lot of teams above them in the standings. Just having Dach not get injured probably would mean this team would be in a wild card spot right now. Let that sink in.

Yeah, I know.

That's why I want to tank one more year to get a missing piece in the top 6.

A guy like Demidov, Lindstrom and even Eiserman would probably sound the end of the "tearing down" part of a rebuild. From then, it would only be about growing as a team (which I believe we are already doing).

a top 6 of :

Slaf - Dach - 2024 Draftee

and

Newhook/Roy/Mesar - Suzuki - Caufield

Has the potential to be enough to contend, especially considering the Dcore we are building with Hutson, Ghule, Mailloux, Reinbacher, Xhekaj, Struble and Barron.

We won't be top heavy with huge superstars forwards - we would be well balance IMO.

Sharks decline. While they want to be out of Pickles' contract, they don't want to burn their last retention slot this year/next year plus their 2nd retention slot in 25-26, and it especially doesn't make sense when the amount retained is a measly 250k. While Pickles' contract is more buyout-proof, it ends a year earlier than the dude who smashes watermelons' deal and can be buried in the AHL to be cheaper if the team's willing to do that whereas Gallagher's deal has the NMC.
