Flames downgrade in net but do it for half the AAV and get a 1st+Kastelic on top of it.

They also get the asking price of a 2nd plus a prospect or two for Tanev. JBD has looked pretty good so far but we need a 2nd pairing RHD and he isn't quite there yet. From Alberta so maybe both parties are interested. Probably worth a late 2nd/early 3rd.

Markstrom doesn't waive his NMC, For a Non-Playoff Senators team. And Tanev isn't being traded there either.

I don't think the trade makes sense for either team. Flames are better off keeping Markstrom to mentor Wolf (even at $6m per season) unless there is a deal you cant turn down and I don't really get why Ottawa would trade for Tanev unless its a sign and trade. With one year left they might be better off taking a shot at him in free agency.

It doesn't really address any need for Calgary. They would be better off trading the two individually for futures and the odd cap dump.
