Description
In this scenario we hold onto Perron and Gost for a playoff run. Wouldn't be opposed to trading either though on the right deal.

EDM
  1. Sprong, Daniel (1 000 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Sprong has been really good so far. Hoping a team over pays to acquire him. He should be getting top 6 minutes but it's behind Kane and Raymond in Detroit. He could play on McDavid's or Draisatl's wing. He is 100% effort every shift and has a nice scoring touch.

  1. Janmark, Mattias
  2. Choix de 2e ronde en 2024 (DET)
Détails additionnels:
Decent bottom 6 guy but we need more physicality to go along with a defensively responsible forward.

Sprong is more valuable to Detroit, currently a playoff team, than Edmontons very late 1st rd pick will ever be..

Detroit should be calculated buyers..not sellers

Yes, hence why the better pick is going to Nashville.

This is a calculated buy. Main idea is to get someone like Trenin to add more physicality and defensive play. We also gain a bit in the draft in this deal.

No way Sprong should be traded.

He's been great this season.

It may not reflect in the stats.

But I notice him every game.

He's always creating scoring chances.

He has a deadly shot as we saw on the 1 timer assisted by Veleno.

I love the hustle and effort he gives each night.

He should be re-signed in my opinion.

I don't completely disagree. I think he commands too much and we can't afford him I don't think, not of we want to upgrade other areas of weakness.
I like that he is all effort all the time. We have a top 5 offense right now but are lacking in defense and physicality. We can't be the 30th most physical team come playoffs.
This would be selling high on him in my opinion.
We aren't going to go far in the playoffs with this team and defense.

No Detroit isn't at a stage where competing for a Cup is expected.

It's not Sprong's fault the D is subpar.

I hate the message it sends to the players.

They might crater the rest of the season if a good player like Sprong gets traded.

Red Wings need to get out of this "picks are gold" thinking.

Red Wings have had more picks than any team in the NHL other than Arizona maybe.

It's time to 💩 or get off the pot.

Either you want to compete or you don't.

I'm not saying throw away the future making foolish Chiarelli trades.

But don't you think this Red Wings team owes it to Larkin to try to compete?

He's eaten a lot of 💩 in his career being the face of some pretty bad Red Wings teams.

I want to see Detroit continuing to build in stages and improving like Stevie's Tampa teams did.

Playing in playoff rounds helps that.

You learn to lose before you learn to win and Cup teams aren't built overnight.

Trying to get more picks doesn't do it for me.

I hate being a Sharks fan right now.

But I have to accept it.

Sell, sell, sell...🤮

I totally agree, they message may not be the best but I'm also bringing in a player who could be a difference maker in a different way. Players understand the business side of things. I don't think they would crater by swapping Sprong with Trenin. I would be just fine with adding Trenin or Sturm or some other similar player without sending someone out. Only thing with this roster is we would likely need to either have a serious injury or send someone out for an upgrade somewhere. I could see us just standing pat this deadline but that's boring on this website.

1st round pick for Sprong is too good to turn down. I think trading Perron (3rd rnd) or Gost (4th rnd) should make less sense at this point in the rebuild. The locker room died last year when Bertuzzi got traded, hopefully Sprong doesn’t have the same affect

Yzerman punted the season after the 2 game debacle vs Ottawa.

Seems Ottawa still has Detroit's number? 😬

I hope that doesn't happen again.
