Future Powerplay and draftpick

Connolly and Greentree wouldn't be bad either.</div></div>
Connelly is my first choice, but its because I want the PP to have a righthanded shot on the leftside and a lefthanded shot on the rightside. If they are not going with that PP setup then Brandsegg-Nygaard is my pick if Mazur is projected as a righthanded LW. I was very high on Jiricek, but I dont know where he is at after only playing 19 gm. They should take Silayev if he slips to 15

He is probably gone at 15, but snipers usually falls in the draft. In 2022, Lekkerimaki and Kemell were drafted in the teens when they potentially couldve been picked in the top10. Like Sandin-Pellikka, Eiserman would add something they dont already have in their prospect pool.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Octopus_Guy</b></div><div>I like the best American born player of all time vs an AHL prospect</div></div>
It depends on what caphit and term Kane is looking for. Pavelski got 7Mx3y at age 35, Zuccarello(36) 4,25Mx2y, Kopitar(36) 7Mx2y and Malkin (36) 6,1Mx4y and they are all point per game players like Kane. If he wants 3 years, then I think its better to move on and play Berggren.

Keep Kane
I think Berggren could be the next Daniel Sprong for the 24/25 Detroit Red Wings. He can play 4th line and run the PP2 . But if Kane resigns, Berggren doesnt really have a role on the team and is probably asking to be traded. I think it's either Kane or Berggren on the roster next year, not both.

Slight Moves
1st round pick for Sprong is too good to turn down. I think trading Perron (3rd rnd) or Gost (4th rnd) should make less sense at this point in the rebuild. The locker room died last year when Bertuzzi got traded, hopefully Sprong doesn’t have the same affect

He isn’t available this year. I would trade Berggren for Honzek or the 2024 CGY 1st round pick (10-16). Detroit are in no rush to move Berggren and after seeing the Toffoli trade, Conroy has a time limit to get the team back in the playoffs.

Panarin is distributing the puck on the powerplay. He is one of the best passers in the game in my opinion

Next year he needs to submit a 15 team no-trade list. I don’t think Detroit is on that and they are probably the only team outside the list who can afford his 8M cap hit. Buying out Goodrow won’t be enough to get Rangers under the cap for next year

Yzerman took over in 2019 and Trouba was traded that summer to NY. It wasn’t a fit for either Redwings or Trouba at the time. In 2024 there will be a fit for both player and the team.
Next year, Rangers need to hand out raises to Lindgren, Kakko and Schneider (potentially Laffy as well). Even if the cap goes up by 4M, they need to replace 800k Wheeler and fill out the bottom6 and bottomD. I think both teams and the player can help each other out.
You’re right, Trouba can stop this in 2024 by adding Detroit to his no-trade list

I would like Pesce on a 6-year deal, but Detroit isn’t a destination for top free agents yet. I think he goes to Dallas or another contender. Roy would be nice as well. I can’t see him leaving LA though. I think Trouba is Detroits only bet next year if they want a top4 RD taller than 6’2. Currently 3 years left on that Trouba deal makes him a good fit because that’s when Holl, Chiarot, Walman, Edvinsson contracts expires.

Hard to tell what his actual demand would even look like. And this is assuming he waives his NMC, which he probably won't.</div></div>
Lindgren, Kakko and Schneider are all going to need raises next year. Trouba is the odd man out. Next year, Detroit is probably the only team on Trouba 15 trade list that can afford his caphit without 50% retention. The best deal for the Rangers is Trouba 8M for Fabbri 1y left at 4M. You can buy him out and save 7M in cap

debrincat to the kraken
The Shane Wright situation is becoming more similar to the Zadina one. Both players with high confidence that overestimates how hard the NHL is. They have the mindset of “I don’t have to prove anything”, when actually most NHL players have to prove they can dominate every level, sometimes twice or more.

Why not see how Sprong do this season. He scored 21g in 66gm and had 11min time one ice. He is like DeBrincat, offers nothing defensively and have a bomb of a onetimer. What if Detroit gave him 15min and PP1? He might score 30

At this point, I think it’s better for Debrincat to sign a 2-year deal and try again next offseason. GMs gets a better look of him, proving he’s a 40-goal scorer without Kane and Ottawa get better value

Remember it took them 30 games to free Seider from Chiarot. Walman was injured for the first 20 games
Bertuzzi, Fabbri, Zadina, Soderblom and Vrana played less than 30 games each.
When I look at the lineup from this year and compare it to next year it makes me feel optimistic for 23/24. Not making playoffs, but 10p+ improvement would be good progress

You can all stay in GR I guess
I think AHL will make Soderblom tougher and meaner. It’s easier to force that on to a player if they are not given a NHL spot.
Edvinsson had shoulder surgery in may and won’t be training for the whole summer. We have seen how awful Copp were because he didn’t train during the off-season. Good Yzerman signed a puckmoving D for 1-year.
Mazur could make it out of camp, but I see him as a player who complements top6 guys. Better if he can prove it in the AHL first.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TMLBRIAN</b></div><div>Sprong and Kubalik both droped over 20 goals and 40 points last year. Trust, this bottom 6 could be solid.
I actually don't mind any of these signings.
Holl 3 x 3.4m is solid.
Sprong 1 x 2m is very good.
Kostin 2 x 2m is on the steep side, but he is BIG and did well in Edmonton.
Compher 5 x 5.1m isn't crazy. He is a low end top 6 or high end top 9 guy. Considering he is a centre, this is what he would cost. He is a very very good #3C, who can play in the top 6 if needed.
Reimer and Lyon are both on great contracts.
Just be patient to see what he does to finish off. He is building for the super long term. He put in some decent pieces today. But the offseason is not done.</div></div>
I originally targeted Mayfield, Killorn, Oreilly, Fischer and Korpisalo/Varlamov. I was even considering Engvall, but look at those deals.
Killorn (34) 6,25Mx4
Oreilly (32) 4,5Mx4
Mayfield (31) 3,5Mx7
Korpisalo (29) 4Mx5
Varlamov (35) 2,75Mx4
Engvall (27) 3Mx7
I would’ve gone Killorn 2y, Oreilly 2y, Mayfield 4y, korpisalo/Varlamov 2y and Engvall 2y.
I think it’s a successful season if they can finish between 13 and 16.

That was surprising for sure, but what would’ve the cost been for Kostin? 3rd? He scored 11G in 57GM with 10 min TOI and he hits & fights. Yama would probably cost a 2nd to dump, but Yzerman gave his mentor discount

How many puckmoving D are Yzerman planning to have in Detroits future lineup? I like Reinbacher a lot, but we already have Seider, Edvinsson and Wallinder who are offensive minded and should be paired with a defensive defenseman. Shouldn’t 3 puckmoving D be enough? How many do other teams have?

Maybe both camps disagree with the term. Both Whitecloud and Roy signed longterm deals and they probably want Hague to do the same. nice team. What about Kase on a 1-year 1M instead of Bobby Ryan? I know he didnt play this year but he is a former 20 goalscorer who needs to show GMs he can play in this league. In my armchair (detroit AHL Veleno, raymond, berggren) I have Fabbri playing center until the trade deadline but adding Suter and shift Fabbri to the wing might be a better option. Do you think Veleno have a spot on the team or would a full season in Grand rapids benefit him more?
