Clearly PLD is not living up to expectations however the Kings aren't giving him up for 2 cap dumps and 2 young defensemen that never ever ever crack the Kings NHL roster. Do a little research before you post.

He is literally dead weight to your team. You're getting out of his horrible contract by taking players that are UFA's in next year...You really think that's worse than pay PLD 8+ for the next 7 seaons? His career high is 63 points, he'll never live up to the horrible contract Blake gave him. Cut your loses and move on.

Did you happen to see what the Kings paid for PLD? An absolute Kings ransom so the only way the Kings give up on PLD is if there is a return where we break even or close to it and this is nowhere close to it. Not to mention all these MTL fans want to take the chance with him why shouldn't the Kings? PLD is staying in LA or getting shipped out for something similar to what they gave up which probably isn't gonna happen so he's staying.

Wouldn't the cap savings you guys make on trading him mean that you're breaking even...???

So we trade Vilardi Iafallo Kupari and a 2nd for half a season of 8.5m cap and then get it taken off the books? And you think that's breaking even? lol

You think anyone is going to actually trade reasonable pieces for PLD and his horrible contract? You break even by getting rid of his contract. Alternatively, you trade him for another high paid, underperforming player, ie Huberdugh.

Which is exactly why I said he's not going anywhere.

At least get the depth to try to win now. LA pissed Vilardi away but this is basically the same as what they gave up otherwise, same if Vilardi was kept in LA as a third liner. After Columbus and Winnipeg and now the lack of production, I would be moving on before the no move kicks in. This is of course fantasy, there is no way in hell Montreal or anyone else gives up this much for Dubois. I would take the defensive depth, good veterans, Arvidsson back and a few million in cap any day.

Pearson or Armia would get ice time but not both of them. The two young defensemen would never see NHL ice time on the Kings so in the whole package only one piece would be utilized making everything else irrelevant. Turcotte or Lizzotte are not suitable for centering the third and fourth lines for the Kings to make a playoff run, if Monahan were involved in the trade it might gain some traction considering he's a suitable replacement for PLD. But as I'm sure you know he is no long a Canadian so there is nothing plugging the hole PLD would be leaving behind if he got traded creating another problem for the Kings. So not only are the Kings losing the player value trade but the versatility of line usage in game as well.

Byfield would have to do what he was drafted to do.

I originally had Monahan instead of Pearson but he just got traded to Winnipeg. With 2.8 million and Kayliev, Turcotte, Armia/Pearson at half price, LA could get another center if Byfield is not good enough.

Another coach fired, Helly said that he signed in Winnipeg due to the Dubois trade.
