Honestly, VAN shouldn't do either of these trades.

Lettermaki for Walker is an overpay; Walker would be a great add but not at the expense of Lettermaki.

Joshua is integral to that third line. Losing him whatsoever is a no-go, unless you want depth scoring to completely fall off and to lose the defensive responsibility of the bottom-6. Especially if you add in Kubalik. That man is an albatross to any line and is a worse Kuzmenko. He'd be unable to play in Tocchet's system whatsoever and would just sit in the press box. Tarasenko at 50% is good though; maybe just him for 2025 1st?

I'm not the owner of this thread... And to put it simply, the Canucks aren't good enough to go talent alone

I don't know, I think they're pretty star-studded and have that depth. They've been at the top of the standings all year and have just added great centre depth without losing a significant roster piece. I think they stand a pretty good shot, although I am biased.

Kuzmenko is significant... I think they are 2-4-1 without Kuzy in the lineup

Fair, Kuzmenko is a legit top-6 winger on a lot of teams and is therefore definitely significant. I more meant that losing him isn't a significant blow to VAN's roster rather than as a player in a vacuum. He'll likely do very well in CGY where he can play with Huberdeau (and spark the latter's playmaking more), but for VAN losing him isn't a major blow. Kuzmenko has been scratched and dropped down the roster quite a bit. Kuzmenko's TOI has dropped significantly and is playing less minutes than Dakota Joshua on the 3rd line, for example.

This trade allows VAN to put Pettersson and Miller on the same line, which means although they obtained a C, they are actually able to get a significant upgrade to their wing by being able to stack their top line.

I feel like moving Joshua would be a mistake at this point for Vancouver. you get a guy playing the best hockey of his life on a team-wide hot streak, feel like it's best to just take that and keep running with it. it's interesting because a lot of it comes down to how Soucy's value vis a vis his contract is perceived. as a general, Sens would probably be comfortable with this, although again, Soucy would be the sticking point

Huberdeau's playmaking is suffering bc of the system he plays in, watch hockey psychology's video on it if you want to know more

Sure, but this team is still 2-4-1 and have gone through multiple bad seasons... They are at the top of the standing bc of their shooting % and their ability to buy into Tocchet's system... Not bc of talent
