As a Rangers fan seeing these is getting embarrassing. A 26yo with 65pts in his last 90 games, and an 800k hit is going to get a 1st round pick from a playoff bound team tight against the cap.

Yes, you are correct about the next two years but the goodrow contract is THREE, which is going to bleed into when we have to pay Bedard, Korch, Nazar, and probably free agents as well. If it was JUST a two year contract, it would be fine, but the term is REALLY bad

Those three you mentioned can at least play. Goodrow isn't really good at anything. Plus those three all expire after 2026, Goodrow's doesn't, he also has a 15 team NTC, and his buying him out doesn't seem like a feasible option. Rangers will be good in 2026, that 3rd round pick will be in the 80s to 90s, hardly a sweetener.

Replace Jones and the 3rd round with Cuylle and the Rangers 2024 1st round pick and maybe the Hawks will take that awful Goodrow contract off the Rangers hands, they might not even make them retain on Goodrow.
