Brzustewicz is easily a 1st rounder if last years draft was redone, 2nd round pick is also a good asset. If O'Reilly was younger I would 100% agree with you, but he's not and I think his 4 year contract holds significant risk for decline. I do think the trade could be a light though and another piece would probably need to be added.

Brzustewicz is having a great season, but I don't think he suddenly has the value of a 1st rounder now. If you really feel he does, would you swap him out of your proposal for Willander?

The picks and Brzustewicz are nice pieces, but they are quantity over quality ones, for what O'Reilly brings to the Preds. Plus Novak is hardly a throw in either.

Not for O'Rielly I wouldn't. There are tiers of value within the first round and Brzustewicz wouldn't fall into the same tier as Willander, Willander is the more valuable piece.

I think both your guys assessments are fair though, in the sense that the value is on the light side for the Preds.

Canucks are not accepting the second deal.
It’s a waste and we don’t need O’Reilly.
It would make sense if Canucks trade Hunter and a couple of draft picks to NSH in exchange for Tomas Novak.
Moving on.

Oh yeah, there are definitely tiers within the 1st. With you agreeing that your original offer was light, I was curious how you saw the gap between the two prospects is all.

Willander is the tier of prospect that would be necessary to get Trotz to consider an O'Reilly trade. It helps that an RD prospect would fit an organizational need too. A wing prospect equivalent to him probably gets a quick "no thank you" from NSH.

The prospect is the only thing in the deal that makes sense for Nashville. The 2nd is in 2025. The deal strips Nashville of their only productive center. We would be entering full tear down mode which likely would makes Kuzmenko's numbers drop more sense he'd now be getting centered by one of Colton Sissons, Cody Glass, Michael McCarron, or Jusso Parssinen.... i mean beyond laughable NHL level center depth. Glass has 2 points over half way through the season and cant stay in the lineup and Parssinen got sent to Milwaukee because the coach thinks he is best served gettinf consistent center time there instead of being bounced around the lineup at the NHL level.

So the trade turns into a really solid prospect, a full scale rebuild, a boat anchor contract, 2024 3rd, and a 2025 2nd. It just isnt worth the the complete chaos it would cause for a singular defensive prospect
