Johansens cap hit is only 4 million for the avs. Manson would be 4.5 for 2 years, and O'Connor is just over a million. I don't think Johansen is particularly useful for us, but getting Manson and O'Connor for free basically, just because we took back a one year 4m cap dump seems too optimistic. The avs could retain half of ryan johansens contract and get future considerations I bet, or take back a two million dollar cap dump like Jacob Bryson for the same effect. I don't think Johansen is killing them to where they are adding useful players to move him.

Quick edit- vegas has huge defensemen that know how to play, and a couple defensively responsible centers on a cup winning team. Remember how ullmark looked decent for buffalo, then won a vezina with a much better defensive team? Ullmark may have benefitted from Bostons goalie coach, but I don't think anybody would reasonably expect him to come back to buffalo and win a vezina with the Sabres in front of him. I'm not saying that Thompson would be bad here, just pointing out that Buffalo's current personnel on defense and center, in granatos system, I wouldn't expect any goalie to bail us out.

LOC is killing it this year. Him at 1M next year is sooo valuable to Colorado. He’s is one of those guys who hold to much value to the current team that they are not worth trading.

Manson is fit this year and doing fine. The Avs doesn’t see him as a cap dump. Sure he can be traded this off-season for cap reasons. But not as a negative asset.

Sure, agree with you. We want rid of Ryjo’s contract and worst case scenario is that he costs a pick. Best case scenario is that someone takes him as FC to reach the floor.

I hear you. My bad not being clear enough. I don’t know much about Ryjo but he genuinely seems like a great teammate. The combination of veteran prensence and being a likeable guy is reason to take him for FC/a late round pick in my book. I could see him having value at the following TDL as a rental aswell.

Actually everyone "needs" to get to the cap floor. And it helps if you get paid when doinging. Even more if you get a guy who could support a developing team. So i'd say its fair to say RyJo's full contract could help meet a need. Don't need help jumping off a bridge but with the right equipment and supervision (ie. help) it can be more fun.

Yeah that’s why CHI is handing out $4M contracts like candy. AZ has had problems getting to the floor in the past but that was more an ownership venue cash floor issue and why they took so many LTIR contracts.

RyJo can still play, and brings a lot of tangibles hell the irony of CFers knocking this is that BUF gave EJ a $3M deal and EJ has far less in the tank than RyJo he just needs the right fit like CHI or AZ.
