I hope everyone realizes that the Kings are not going to trade Dubois after trading for him months ago and giving him a long term contract. If I’m not mistaken that has never happened before. And nobody is going to trade for him and make that commitment to a player they’re unsure about.

I also think most people don't understand what Calgary is likely to do. Between prospects and signed players, Calgary has most of their key positions filled for the foreseeable future. They're probably trying to fill some of the remaining holes with young unproven players and prospects by trading pending UFAs, with the hope of being competitive in 2 or 3 seasons.

Calgary is not going to be running a fire sale, taking on bad contracts, to tank for the next decade in the hopes of being good some day. The only way Calgary takes PLD is if LA takes Huberdeau, and I don't see LA accepting that swap.

If I were LA I would take that swap. They’re trying to win now and nobody else is going to take Dubois unless he starts playing better. Playing poorly combined with the negative press and questions about his character are a no go.

He doesn’t fit, at least with Huberdeau you bring in a veteran who likely does fit next to one of Kopitar or Danault. And if he doesn’t at least you got away from Dubois.

But I agree, I don’t think LA does it. I think they’ll try to make Dubois work. GM won’t want to admit he was wrong.

Why do all these delusional people keep coming here thinking some team is going to do LA the favour of taking PLD off their hands? One of the Leagues worst contracts lol MAYBE if they attached him to a couple of first round picks, a team like ARI might take him off their hands for future considerations. Not even CHI would make that deal. They are too close to completing their rebuild. The worst part is, people keep putting him trades as if he ADDs value. lol He has MASSIVE negative value.

I think if Lindholm does wind up leaving Calgary they -just might- consider trading him for PLD but it wouldn't be straight up. It'd be Lindholm with an extension for PLD+, not sure what the + would need to be either. Without a nice sweetener it'd just be too risky for the Flames and without a Lindholm extension it'd be a bad move for the Kings.

My thinking was that Calgary would rather have the younger PLD at 8.5m than extending Lindy into his late thirties at a similar number.

Take a gamble and put him next to Hubey and hope the French connection pays off.
