Like the Oilers would pay a 1st if the Flames would help the Oilers. They may not. But Tanev is a great RD for playoffs. Only problem is he’s an injury risk.

They had a seriously good relationship. It's be like riding a bike. Hughes-Hronek is great but it's time for Hronek to show if he is a $5M player or a $7M player.

It probably would cost the Oilers a 1st to get him with them being the Flames biggest divisional rival coupled with the fact that he could be the final piece needed for them to win the Cup with the roster that they now have. At the very least it would be a 2nd that has a condition on it that it would turn into a 1st if the Oilers make it to the Conference Finals possibly with a stipulation that Tanev must dress x amount or % of games for the Oilers.

This is a league which has seen Nick Foligno, David Savard, and Ben Chiarot go for 1st round picks at the deadline in recent years. All worse players than Tanev.

He very well may go for less - but we don't know the market yet.
