Suter has been too valuable to move. You would be gaining in one area while losing in another. Canucks will find a way to add without subtracting from the roster - with the exception of Kuzmenko who they can’t afford to be patient with given his current production and cap hit. He’s the trade chip, along with the 1st, Raty, possibly Podkolzin and a few others playing in the AHL. Whether they get moved seperately or together depends. For Guentzel as a rental I would think Kuzmenko, Raty and a 1st gets it done. Maybe Podkolzin instead of Raty if they push.

The team needs to sign Petey and Hronek first. Even if Kuz is gone, another $8M deal will hamstring their ability to ice a solid defense. They'd be bargain bin shopping or forced to rush Willander for his ELC. I'd rather they overpay for a guy with another year or look for some value deals. The offense is purring so I'm more keen on a move that could be long-term without hurting the rest of the roster and something that Petey would be intrigued by.
