Not enough for Walker, he's the second best RD on the market, he's worth at least a 2nd if not a late 1st from a playoff team going deep

Frankly the Oilers don't need Walker LOL! They got Ceci who is perfectly fine, He has 12 assists and a Plus 9 rating this season, on track for 23 Pts and a Plus 18 rating. He is the best value dman on our team. Frankly if I'm the Oilers I wouldn't trade him straight up for Sean Walker because 1 you don't have to like I said, 2 because he is still under contract for another year, and 3 he is playing like he did, when he was when he had his 1st year with the Oilers. Overall, Ceci is perfectly fine for us.

As prevoius guy mentioned. Walker would cost more. Especially with Ceci being 1 years older and effecrively being a cap dump. Giroux trade should make sense. Giroux gets to play some playoff hockey. Tho he has 2 years left on the deal. That is the problem. Ottawa would accept if this was his final year. But rn I think Oilers needs to add more. I would say Holloway could do the trick

Retained Walker for a 2024 1st. If you don't need Ceci, trade him to other team.

No, it doesn't.

That offer gets Tarasenko, does not come close to getting Giroux.

There is nothing about that trade that the Flyers would want. We don't need defenseman, especially two bottom pair ones. Walker retained will likely command a 2nd+ at least.

Do agree in General that the oilers probably won't trade for and don't need Walker, However I do think you are underrating Walker a bit, he's generally favorited in the advanced stats (especially xGA) and has only 1 less assist with 5 more goals

where I agree with you is that the Oilers likely view Walker and Ceci as a similar type of player, trading for a player to fill a role you've already filled is not good management, especially with, as you said, Ceci being under contract, along with the fact that Ceci has pretty good chemistry with Nurse and replacing him with Walker could definitely screw up the D-pairings if he doesn't gel with well with Nurse

i wouldn't be, staios said himself that they want to move out some veteran players, and I'm sure giroux would like to be in the playoffs again, which I don't think will happen in Ottawa

He willingly signed as a UFA with Ottawa who was in a rebuild. He has roots in Ottawa and appears to enjoy being a leader there. Since he has a NNC it would be him going to staios and asking for a trade which I don’t see happening.
