I don't think you have any idea what you are talking about... especially when you say "especially for what Habs fans would offer"

McGroarty in your opinion shouldn't be available but you are not GM of the Jets and the Jets are in win now mode not a rebuild so they will move out picks and prospects to improve their chances at a cup. That being said though, to get McGroarty Habs would have to give up something significant that Helps the Jets win the cup, something like Suzuki, Barron, Matheson or Savard Suzuki isn't being traded, Jets have little need for Barron and Savard would still need a significant add to get McGroarty, so that would just leave Matheson, who IMO would be a great add for the Jets but Jets fans won't agree that he could get McGroarty + a mid round pick even though he would be their 2LHD

WTF are you talking about
The Jets are going to trade the guy they took at #14 2 years agofor an LHD they don’t need, when they need a 2C and RHD… ok kiddo… keep dreaming
If…if, and that’s a huge if, WPG moves McGroarty, it’ll be for a slam dunk involving a 2C or top 4 RHD

…and just for the record…this is exactly what I meant when I said… "especially for what Habs fans would offer"

LMFAO, this is what I am talking about, you clearly have no idea what the Jets needs are. Matheson would be an upgrade on all of the Jets LHD except for Morrissey and is younger than all but Samberg and Stanley and is cheaper than Schmidt. Plus he is signed for 2 more years where as Dillon expires at the end of this year. Having Morrissey-Matheson-Dillon/Schmidt as your LD lineup is miles better than any combination of Morrissey-Dillon/Schmidt/Samberg/Stanley

Yes you need a 2C which is why the Jets have reported interest in Monahan. The RD is better than the LD but it's a 1RD you need not just a top 4RD, Pionk and DeMelo are both good 2RD so top 4 quality and the Jets could get by with them if you had Morrissey and Matheson as the 2 top LHD.

There is absolutely 0 chance Trotz deals Wood.

Unless you have a potential 1C prospect nobody has heard about he won’t be taking calls on him.

Teams don’t trade their top prospects for positions they don’t need. The Jets need a 2C, and Monahan isn’t that, nor would they give Rutger for him.

Teams do give up top prospects for improving on any position, whether the need is there or not. You can't seriously think that the Jets would pass on upgrading Schmidt and Dillon to Matheson, just cause you don't feel like they "need" to. That is like saying that they wouldn't trade for McDavid or Draisaitl just cause they have Scheifele, an upgrade is an upgrade, no matter what position it is or how deep you are at that position. As for your Monahan comment, he is on pace for 50 ish points, that would put him 2nd amongst all of the Jets centers and he doesn't have wingers like Ehlers, Perfetti, Vilardi or Connor to boost his stats like the Jets current centers do.

they aren’t going to shake up what’s working with their back end to add a player they don’t need. they need help down the middle. it’s as simple as that.

and monahan is a powerplay merchant who can’t play defense. they need upgrades.

You clearly have no understanding of what teams are willing to do to improve their chances at a cup. Teams do prefer to fill holes in their lineup first but they don't just turn away proposals that upgrade other areas of their roster either. Imagine if they got an offer of Rantanen for Vilardi and McGroarty and they turned that down cause they "didn't need to upgrade !and upset what's working", they would be the laughing stock of the league and their GM would be instantly fired. Simply put just cause you don't "need" to upgrade a position, doesn't mean you don't upgrade that position!

It's hilarious that you think Monahan is just a PP merchant, the PP is the only time he gets to play with quality wingers in Montreal, if he was able to play with quality wingers at 5 on 5 he would be on pace for 60-80 points easily.

The problem is you just compared making upgrades in Matheson to the team adding Rantanen. That’s a pretty big false equivalency.

The Jets are fine on the back end. Dillon is a fine 2LD who plays the style of defense they need, and if they don’t resign him, Samberg will ultimately replace him, who has a pretty decent upside to him. They aren’t going to move one of their top prospects for a position they simply don’t need.

Lol, Monahan stinks. Dude can’t defend to save his life with some of the worst 5v5 EV defense percentiles this season. They will look towards marginal upgrades in their top 6 and opt to not pay a premium for a dude who hasn’t been good in years.

Montreal fans need to understand that not every team wants their players.
