It's an absolute sin that Ruff treats Holtz the way he does. Guy has been good for us this year, leads the team in 5v5 goals, improved his skating and defensive play like management asked him to. He's done everything right, but Ruff holds every little mistake over his head

Edmonton could make a literal hockey puck their head coach and they would still have a better record than Calgarysmile

Watched him in the Devils vs Habs game last night, dude looked electric out there offensively. Could be a 30 goal guy if they played him in the top 6 but for whatever reason he plays next to Chris Tierney, Ruff isn't the reason for the Devils struggles (Injuries are) but he sure as hell won't be the coach that gets them to the cup

Brutal situation.

Lindy has up-and-down track record with NJ fans (“fire Lindy”…to…”sorry, Lindy”).

But slamming a player like he did last night in a press conference was not the norm. He clearly does not like Holtz. Didn’t like him last year, when Brunette did and wanted him to stay on roster. But I don’t think Lindy has commented that negatively about a player publicly before.

Who knows where it goes from here.

To be fair….Holtz has had some mistakes..his issue has been puck protection in neutral zone. There have been some turnovers in some pretty tough spots. But it’s not like we haven’t seen that with other rookies. Jack, Bratt, all of ‘em went through it.

(If we move Holtz….would probably be for dman)

I think Ruff just wants him to have a good all around game. Should Holtz be playing less than 10 mins per game? No. But also Lindy’s 1st year in NJ he was rough, ( no pun intended ) on Bratt. He also wanted Bratt to have a good all around game and now Bratt plays Penalty Kill and has a great all around game. I just think it’s a little tough love on Holtz because maybe they don’t bring Toffoli back and they have a spot in the top 6 next year that Holtz will earn. Just my opinion, I honestly think Ruff is just giving him a little tough love. But I do agree, the way he’s playing 5v5, dude should be playing at least 12-15 mins a game.

He is great if you are down a goal. (And I think we have given up first goal in all but 10 games).

If you are buying time…holding a lead, he doesn’t see the ice.

His issues have gotten better, there is no doubt. But Lindy doesn’t seem to forgive him as easily if he does make a mistake.

Now watch Nashville trade for him and turn him into 50-goal scorer.

On that thought maybe a trade to the man who likes him a ton for Askarov 😳
