What is the value gap between 1.5 years of Chychrun vs 4.5 years of Whitecloud at $2.75m?

If Vegas offered Whitecloud for Chychrun, one for one, does Ottawa say no?

No, he can play anywhere in the lineup (at least that’s how he looks when I watch him). Besides, this creates the same problem for Vegas that the Sens have now: 5 LHD in the top-6.

I think the idea of Ottawa trading Chychrun is good, but I don't think Vegas will be the one to do it because they already have one of the best top 6 d-men cores in the league. Martinez is likely retiring soon, but I think it's in the plan that we replace him with Korzcak. I think if Vegas adds at the deadline, it'd likely be a forward, a goalie or both.

If we wanted to make the trade worth it, I don't think we trade anything better than just Whitecloud for Chychrun one for one. Whitecloud is a steal at his current price and he's locked up for the next 5 years. Chychrun at 4.6 is probably good value, but it'd make things harder for VGK to figure out salary wise because we'll have to worry about an extension in a couple years. I'd personally rather keep Whitecloud over Chychrun though, I think Whitecloud is better value.
