Description
Rangers trade - Montreal grabs another draft pick and the Rangers grab cap space to go add some pieces to their team and prepare for a deep run.

Toronto trade - The Habs get a draft pick and give the Leafs some cap relief taking a flyer on Timmins and fixing the 3 goalie rotation waiving Samsonov. The Leafs bring in a few cup winners. Savard is a great minute muncher and leader with another year left on his contract after this one at a good number. Allen would be the perfect 1B and could serve as a good mentor to Woll as he has Montembault and Binnington.

Pearson trade isn’t specific to Winnipeg. If a playoff team has any interest I’d move him for a late pick.

Colorado trade - Gives Colorado a better option then Johanson at 2C, bring in a bottom pair guy for cheap with a year left. Montreal get a pick to continue their rebuild.

I would be fine with moving Matheson but I doubt habs management would. No interest in Savard? fits the Tanev profile and has another year at a reasonable dollar

A lot of Leafs fans here think Savard is trash.

tbh i'm not rlly interested in tanev either personally, definitely wouldn't be giving up a first for him or savard. leafs need a much different profile of defenceman atm

I think he’s kinda under appreciated on Montreal. He’s been solid for them

Been logging 21 minutes a game and doing a good job shutting down teams top players. Terrific at blocking shots and brings experience and a Stanley Cup ring with him for a reasonable dollar. Maybe they don’t have interest but he’s far from trash.

I dont know why Habs want to take on 3 years of Goodrows contract for a late 1st. Dont see it happening
Savard easily one of the most underrated DMEN out there . He will get a 1st or 2nd on his own. Leafs could use him, badly ... when they are outside of the playoffs they will make a move and D will be it
Jake Allen i dont think is tradeable. If they can move him without retention, for anything, I dont know why they wouldnt
Monahan/Kovacevik for a first seems light. Contrary to whats out there , i think Habs get a 1st for Monahan and i think they can arguably get a 2nd for Kovacevik. I might be wrong but time will tell

Having said all that, Habs have 48 guys under contract, and 22 picks over the next 2 years so i am guessing picks arent the priority

They aren’t in a position to win so they should be acquiring draft picks for the future. They don’t need this many late firsts so maybe you take a couple of them and flip them for a young player (Dach/Newhook) style trade that Habs management seems to like.

totally agree ... if you move Savard, and i am not sure they do, and you move Monahan i think they already have enough draft capital to make a move. 3 yrs of Goodrow is very unappealing. Especially knowing most late firsts if they make it are 3rd liners

Drury laughs and says keep dreaming. No chance they use a 1st round pick to trade Goodrow. They keep for this years playoffs and then make a decision about trading or buying him out in the off season.

Start by taking out the Avs 1st.....then take out Monahan and the Habs 4th......then add in a third from the Avs......there fixed it for you.

P.S. Monahan = RyJo other than cap hit. There is no 'better'.
