Any team that gets Jake will pay at least that much.

Well in that case Vancouver happily drops out of the Guentzel sweepstakes.

I think you're right, but GM's do really stupid things at the deadline for FOMO (Fear of Missing Out.)

Alvin has been a very patient gm and won't rush things, if he doesn't like the deal he's not going to make it even with fomo it's just not a Alvin type move

If you devalue Kuzmenko to a negative asset maybe thats the value but he's a top 6 winger who scored more goals than guentzel last yr.

I don't think none play driving wingers have anywhere near that value though. I really like Guentzel but he finishes off passes from Crosby and Malkin.

Remove Kuzmenko and Guentzel and it’s a fair deal for both sides.

I don't see Vancouver subtracting a prolific piece like a Kuzmenko at the TDL... if PIT fell out of it and determined it was the best move to trade Guentzel, then it would be a mostly picks/prospects package... maybe a under-25 player also...

The problem with this is cap. If you are bringing in a guy who makes 6 mil to a cap strapped team you are going to have to give some money back. The usual suspect have been Myers, Garland but they are literally playing too well to trade. That is why Kuzmenko does make sense to ship in a deal for a top6 guy. First he's not contributing much, been healthy scratched as we know and his place on the PP and top 6 would be taken by Guentzel anyway.

then with that being said, I think PIT can retain half on Jake which would put him at 3M (if a third team came in then he's down to 1.5M... which we saw at last year's TDL...) either that or it's a 3 way trade in the sense that pit takes whatever piece VAN sends their way and flips that for whatever...

If you wanna give up 2-3 extra draft picks that might work. The other thing is if you are acquiring Guentzel you are looking to resign him and Kuzmenko's 5.5 mil becomes another one to move to make that possible.
