But for the rest of these deals. Kuzmenko is more likely an offseason deal, Vancouver would most likely hold on to Myers and give him an extension, and then Johansen is if Colorado goes completely off the Grand Canyon bad, and even the Colorado would hold on to him

Canucks have no interest in Carrier and O'Reilly, and they shouldn't trade their prospect players and their draft picks.
Ryan Johansen could be a good fit for the Canucks and he's a BC native.

Why wouldn’t Vancouver just retain and trade Myers to someone who wants him? The Hawks already have a half dozen players they could retain on at the TDL and only two retention spots left, no need to acquire another one and go through all that hassle for a 4th round pick.

I don't understand why VAN fans are so eager to move Myers. He has played very well for them this year in a fairly prominent role, and you already paid his bonus. Why would you want to mess with the chemistry your team is having right now? Unless you can get a definitive upgrade with some term on a very good contract before the deadline, why not just let him play out his deal?

I agree he's been good. I think the issue with why he's already being traded is more that his contract is the most movable, and they have to move out money to bring anyone in who isn't on an ELC or league minimum.

Avs might do that without retention but if they move RyJo it will be for the full cap hit.

Sure. I get that much. I just don't think any of this is necessary. Why disrupt chemistry and leave a possible hole on defense while adding scoring that VAN doesn't really need? There is no guarantee Carrier's play, or O'Reilly's for that matter, will translate the same way in VAN's systems and pairings, as it does in NSH's, and Myers is working well for them and could be their own rental. Idk. Just seems like a lot of value going out for a few moves that change the team pretty drastically and is not a sure thing.

Why not just keep Myers, and package Kuzmenko to bring in O'Reilly? Then VAN wouldn't be expending so much value, and the disruption to team chemistry would be minimized. NSH is looking for exciting players, and Kuzmenko is an exciting player (when he is playing well, that is).
