Well like the title suggests it's way too early to make a PLD trade, but even if there was an overreaction trade to occur, I think it would be in the off-season and that LA would try to get a deal done at/before the draft, but if it winds being after July 1st the only place he's going is probably MTL for better or for worse.

As for the proposed, mock trade, I don't think CGY would retain on Huberdeau for all those years, and I would agree with Vancity2196 that LA wouldn't want to take him on since it would ruin their cap structure, they should want to put that money towards their back-end and goaltending. Having Lindholm and Huberdeau on the 3rd line would just be excessive.

Calgary doesn’t touch that primadonna with a 10 foot pole. They are a fragile bunch right now with both Johnny and Tkachuk wanting out. No way they relive that disaster with “PL” Dubious, who can’t even be satisfied with his own first name name, let alone another smaller Canadian market.

As a Flames fan I would strongly consider this deal.
You break it down as Lindholm for Kaliyev, 1st, and a 2nd which is pretty good value on a rental.
Then you look at Dubois vs Huberdeau. Five years younger and a contract which is way easier to buyout if needed.
Sure there is the "attitude issue" and him wanting out would be extremely likely, but Dubois is certainly more moveable than Huberdeau at this point if it came to that.
