  1. Norlinder, Mattias
  2. Xhekaj, Arber
  3. Xhekaj, Florian [Liste de réserve]
Détails additionnels:
Habs have an excess of defenseman and might be willing to move some for an NHL forward

Until this year Dube had steady improvement every year, might benefit from more oppurtunity in MTL with all the injuries

Moving both brothers just because and sending the Flames drafted in the same round (4th) in return. Both guys seem similar 6'4 forwards that are close to a PPG but not quite
MTL
  1. Dubé, Dillon
  2. Lipinski, Jaden [Liste de réserve]
  3. Choix de 6e ronde en 2024 (CGY)
Détails additionnels:
Flames need LD, Xhekaj jumps straight into the top6 for the Flames and Norlinder had a good pre-season and might benefit from a less clogged up Defensive depth chart

MTL definitely decline, we aren't trading the Xhekaj brothers
It's been reported that MTL COULD easily get a 1st round pick for Arber alone

A more realistic trade would be Dillon Dube vs Jordan Harris

a potential top 4 enforcer that can play properly that is still young, has the right attitude, and is a crowd favorite

its entertainment and there are few more entertaining than arber.

you want him? PAY THROUGH THE NOSE

Arber will cost way more, 31 team wants a guy like him. He is not in Laval because his time in Montreal is over, he is there to rebuild confidence and work on some aspect of his game, which is very successfull if you are looking at his result in the AHL.

To all dreamer, you can trade for Arber as much as you want but in reality, we all know it won't happen.

May I interest you in J.Barron or J.Harris? You can also make an offer on D.Savard or Kovacevic depending on your need. You can even try Matheson, but it won't come cheap.

Xhekaj, Ghule and Struble aren't going anywhere.

Well we are kind of tired to have every other teams fanbases trying to get him for cheap. Like if the fact that everybody whants him on their team has nothing to do with the fact he's a unique fast skater enforcer with a killer shot paid under $1M.

true, and even harris for dube is not something mtl would do... we would rather trade harris in a package for a top 6 player not a middle 6 player

maybe, but if youre a 22yo who was sent to improve some things in the AHL because he came into the NHL straights from the OHL and his teams can afford to send him down and you prove that youre too good for the AHL and you are a rare breed you hold ton of value and have top 2 potential

There's no real reason for Montreal to trade Xhekaj now and Dube is hardly the kind of player they'd be looking for in return if they would move him (in terms of impact, age, role, contract status, etc.). Dube doesn't really make sense for Montreal period, Xhekaj or not.

As a side note - do you think Calgary wants Dube back on his QO?

I don’t think you can use Harris as a main piece to acquire a top 6 player. Harris is good, but he is 5’11, decent at everything … I think if he gets traded, it’s gonna be for a youngster with middle six potential

No but if he punches hard and skates well and scores goals and playes on the PP, you can ask for whatever you want to ask (he's literally a player every team in the league would go nuts if they hear he's available)

Sorry for quoting you all at the same time lol, this just seemed easier than individually.
I had it broken down like this
Wifi + Norlinder for Dubé
F.Xhekaj for Lipinski + 6th rounder (to make up for the 10 or so draft spots between them, I haven't seen either of them play)
I believe Xhekaj has top 4 potential but, those of you saying he's in the plans of the future for the Habs I'd say your wrong.
1st pair Guhle + Barron or Mailloux
2nd pair Hudson + Reinbacher
3rd pair probably some vets for stability. These pairings seem the most likely for the Habs future D-Core 5yrs or less from now, I don't think Xhekaj despite how much of a fan favorite he is, actually factors into what the most likely plan is for the team.
Now despite his play this year, no real excuse other than maybe he's the only guy that might've like Sutter, Dubé had 45 points last year as the 8th most used forward and only 4PP points, to compare Toffoli had about 48 points without his 25PPpoints. Not bad IMO
I honestly think he could pair better with Caufield and Suzuki than any other player the Habs have. I understand you have it as Wifi is the most valuable player but, I think Dubé track record makes him the more valuable player and for that we'll all just disagree.
For those of you saying Xhekaj and Harris are trade chips that can be used to acquire a bonified young-ish top 6 forward, I'd strongly disagree.

Anyway, I think we all just make ACGMs for ideas and some hockey discussion, I liked your opinions for the most part and I can definitely see an argument for the Flames needing to add to this type of hypotrade but, not at the levels all of you seem to be suggesting

You got to understand that we don’t want/need Dube
You are using someone that we don’t want as the main piece. MTL won’t have veteran dman for the 3rd pairing, Struble Harris Xhekaj Engstrom would all be better than any aging veteran. Guhle/Hutson/Reinbacher will a top 3, we just need one of Barron or Mailloux too round that top 4. The other (Barron or Mailloux) will be paired up with either Xhekaj/Struble (whoever stays). The other, 7th dman. Harris will probably be traded down the line but I agree, he won’t return a top 6 forward or young-ish potential top 6 forward

But he does 1 of those things. He punches hard.

Edit* Maybe 2. Idk how good of a skater he is, don't want to knock that part he might be excellent. Find it weird that a 6'4 220lb Dman who can skate well went undrafted though

The biggest part from a Montreal POV is that Dube doesn't make sense for Montreal (Will be 26 next season, pending RFA, not big or strong, never hit 20 goals). Whether or not Xhekaj has a future in Montreal is irrelevant, if they were to trade him it wouldn't be for Dube. You can talk about point production, but last season was an outlier and a product of who he played with more than anyone else. He's also a terrible fit for Suzuki/Caufield because he doesn't complement their games (the last thing they need is someone who's value is mostly in transition, they need someone who helps the cycle and gets them the puck) and the Caufield-Suzuki-Slafkovsky line has been excellent for Montreal. Its not super hard to get a player like Dube through trade or free agency and Montreal isn't at a spot right now in their rebuild where that's a need.

The other part of this is the difference between fan trades and real trades. Montreal doesn't have "plans" that would include or not include Xhekaj. The reason he's in the AHL right now is to work on some things, but also because he was injured and one of Montreal injury call-ups (Struble) has played so well that he' been playing ahead of Guhle the last couple of weeks. How Montreal manages their young D depends on how they perform and develop and THAT will be what informs the plan, not fan projections. It doesn't matter what you think Xhekaj is worth or not in a trade, he's got a ton of team control and doesn't even need waivers until 2025-2026. There's no reason to move him unless the trade makes more sense in the long term. And Dube probably isn't what makes sense.

we are injury kings, injurys will happen. a team dosnt need 6-7 dmen for a stanley cup run, they need almost a dozen in an average year.

we are also not the largest group. suzy, caufield, newhook, hutson, etc. so sherrif is needed

florian and arber are life long habs fans. they slept on ahbs pillows. we gave them a chance when no one else would. not drafted more than once.

arber is a hab, and will be afor a long time.

truthfully, i wouldnt trade arber for anyone on the flames 1 for 1, at all.
and i think everyone drools at the THOUGHT of having arber on his team.

you WIN with arbers, and florians

And Dube probably isn't what makes sense.

looks like burnout watched the games, AND reads the asrticles.
completely agree.
