First things first, we need to offload and replace at least one top 4 LD. Until that happens, we're spinning wheels. If it does happen, I could totally see Army going after someone like Konecny who fits around RobTom's age, plays a Blues style and is in a situation where he'll possibly be UFA trade bait. The thing is, if we're splurging for a forward for now, I'd kinda rather it be a 2C so we can move Schenn back to the wing and still give our C prospects time to marinate. Of course, that's a harder nut to crack.

Agreed. Schenn really needs to move to the wing. He also needs a play driver on his line and I don’t think Dvorsky will be ready to be that next year.

Naming him captain was a major own goal. Not only is it like we can't trade him now, but this is already Thomas' team regardless of who is wearing the C. Another Army panic move when there was no need to panic. I wish he was as consistent as our draft department.

I don’t really hate the Schenn being named as captain. I have hated watching him the past 15 games though. I’m not sure after last season you can try to compete with a veteran team naming Robby captain. He’s certainly ready now and it’s very evident. But I don’t think it was 3-4 months ago.

Figured Schenn was always a placeholder for Thomas in terms of captaincy. I just don’t know if you can realistically rip the c off and expect no backlash.

Which is exactly why they should have waited instead of potentially blocking Thomas for 5 years. It was an idiotic move. Schenn's defensive and possession play were bad last season, he just scored enough to kinda cover it. Now he's not even doing that. The majority of his points came in three games. And he's still making sloppy mistakes a captain should not be making.
